Two Worksheets or cut and laminate to make 9 +12 workcards. One set is rectangles, the other varied compound shapes. Pupils form algebraic expressions to describe areas. Involves multiplying one and two brackets, areas of rectangles, triangles and parts of circles. Questions colour coded green (easy) orange (medium) red (harder) so pupils can choose their level to work at/stretch themselves. Generates lots of discussion especially if individual question cards are used as paired/group activity. Great for introductory lesson or for revision.
