The ATP has published a new document giving ethics guidance for student practical research activities.

Members have been telling us for some time that they feel the need for clear and detailed ethics guidance in fulfilling practical research requirements for various specifications. This new guidance is therefore relevant for student research in psychology for A-level, Higher, GCSE, National 5, and indeed any pre-tertiary course in schools and colleges.

Remember that it is only guidance, not a rule book, and responsibility for ethical practice ultimately rests with researcher, teacher and institution. As well as referring to the BPS ethics documents, you must use professional judgment in ensuring that student research work is ethical, and we hope that you find this new guidance helpful in this respect.
