My students get too antsy about answering word problems and tend to just guess on what to do without actually realizing what the problem is asking.
On this worksheet that we do together as a group, the numbers are removed. The students have to tell me HOW to solve the problem before I give them the numbers.
It is hard for them to grasp at first (mine kept putting in their own numbers!), but once they get the hang of it, it helps tremendously with them actually READING the problem.
I first had my students start with the addition and subtraction problems worksheet to get accustomed to the style, and then we advanced to the multiplication and division set.
