Chinese New Year STEM activity

At the time of Chinese New Year it is traditional to give money in a red envelope to family and friends. In Chinese culture red is a symbol of good luck and so the gifts are a way of wishing ‘good fortune’ for the coming year.
This fun STEM activity will stretch imaginations and develop creative thinking as children are challenged to design and build a device that can remove coins from a red envelope.
It is easily set up using readily available materials and minimal preparation.
The resource includes a challenge worksheet, red envelope template and brief facilitator notes.
