A SMART Notebook resource where you are asked to help Tom get enough food for his birthday party. He has a number of children coming and needs the right amount. For example, 12 girls are attending and they need dolls for their party bags, the dolls come in packs of three, how many packs are needed? Good revision for SATS.
This is a powerpoint based on the Liverpool Cards for group problem solving. It's a problem with a set of 4 clues, some of which are relevant to the problem and some of which aren&'t. It encourages children to find important information when problem solving and discount irrelevant details. It&';s also great for collaborative work. This was aimed at a low ability Year 3 class.
Group project involving 3D shapes. Children design a scene to be constructed using 3D shapes. Over 2 lessons, children design a scene, and are given 3D shape nets to colour in and assemble to bring their scene to life.
Children also fill in a project booklet that requires them to count the number of faces, edges, and vertices for each shape, record the amount of each shape they need, and the total amount of faces, edges and vertices in their entire scene.
A multi-faceted project involving shape, teamwork, design, planning, construction, counting, multiplication and addition.
