EXPOSITORY LESSON PLAN 17 - Writing a Research Paper
This lesson plan walks students through the entire process of writing a research paper with a scoring rubric for each step. It takes each step of the process individually, so the student is not overwhelmed by the enormity of the assignment. Each step is individually graded, so the teacher is not overwhelmed by the enormity of grading ALL of the finished research papers at one time. (Suggestion: grade each student's section as it is finished, reducing the grading load even further)

This lesson includes the following rubrics and examples:

1. Deciding the subject
2. Deciding on a project to go with the research paper
3. Forming the critical question
4. Deciding topics that will be researched
5. Doing the research rubric for work cited and note taking. (Scoring rubric is included)
6. Writing the introduction, body, and conclusion with examples
10. Writing the work cited page with scoring rubric
11. Final organization instructions and scoring rubric
