Make The Link, Break The Chain
It was developed from a project which linked schools in Brazil, Haiti, Senegal, Sierra Leone and the UK. The resource aims to create historical awareness of slavery by exploring the personal experiences of a slave. We will then look at how slave songs were a form of protest, represented freedom and concealed coded messages. In later lessons the resource looks at contemporary forms of slavery, and students create proactive actions points on how they can prevent these forms of modern day slavery. The scheme of work uses a cross-curricular approach.
