I put together this book to use as several mini lessons introducing graphing on coordinate planes to my 5th grade students and they love it! It is broken down into 4 sections: vocabulary, classroom practice, bellwork, and review questions. I wrote the review questions to reflect what might be asked on the FSA, but they follow with Common Core Standards as well.

Set aside 10 days to complete this book…roughly 15-20 minutes per day at most.

You’ll need to print double-sided and line up the pages, then staple the books together. Once complete, the students are prompted to master vocabulary first, writing definitions and reinforcing with pictures or images. After 2 days of vocabulary, they practice classwork. Give 10-15 minutes of class time for teach/review. Then after 3 days of class work, they move on to 4 days of bellwork. 5-8 minutes at the beginning of class should be plenty. Finally, move on to the last day of review questions.

The front page allows the teacher to stamp the book as each section is completed to give the students that sense of accomplishment and progress.

Florida Standard: MAFS.5.G.1.1
Common Core: CCSS.5.G.A.1
