Music Activities

Plants, Flowers & Growing

Suitable for Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils.

Ten musical activities linked to themes and topics around plants, flowers and growing. In addition to your work around the theme, they can be used as stand-alone activities, lesson starters/finishers or brain breaks.

To deliver all of the activities you will require a small range of percussion instruments but these are not prescriptive; tambourines and/or rain sticks and/or bells, tambours, woodblock and beater and/or claves and/or castanets, drums. Simply use what you have.

This resource will support your delivery of the National Curriculum for Music. The musical activities in this pack focus on listening and responding, improvising and performing. In addition the activities aid the development of a range of wider skills including focus, team-work, creativity and confidence.

They can be delivered to a small group of pupils, or as many as you have.

You do not have to have a musical background to deliver them.

This pack includes;
• Ten simple, easy-to-follow, musical activities, with detailed instructions
• A list of Resources required for each activity
• A PowerPoint presentation with 40 beautiful images of flowers and plants
• A set of 10 pictures of flowers you can laminate and use for some of the activities.
