Jeu d’accès – GCSE taster lesson – KS3 French worksheet & game

A GCSE taster lesson for KS3 students, designed to introduce GCSE French and encourage uptake through a worksheet and interactive game.

Students complete a worksheet to unlock access to a digital map-based game, where they explore surprising places in France with a quiz. The worksheet introduces three GCSE topics with an engaging “escape room” feel, giving students a light puzzle pathway into GCSE-style French, with a mix of language tasks, clues and discovery.

Best suited to Year 9, or confident Year 8 classes, as a GCSE transition or taster activity. The worksheet is deliberately a bit more ambitious than a standard lower-KS3 task, as the aim is to give students a first taste of GCSE-style thinking in a more playful format. Depending on class ability, the worksheet should take 30-40 min and the game 10-20 min.
Can be used for options week, end-of-year lessons, transition work, or simply to inspire Year 9 students to pick GCSE French.
