The purpose of this lesson is to review the material of lessons 1-18. The narrative opens with a famine in Judah, because of which Elimelech and his family go to live in Moab. His two sons marry in Moab. In the first verse, we see that The book of Ruth opens by chronologically placing these events during the days of the judges. This is the reason that the Septuagint (and therefore many English translations) place Ruth directly after the book of Judges. In the Hebrew version, its location is different, and it is found in the last part of the תנ'&'ך-Tanach.
