Structuring non-fiction paragraphs using SPOs (The Writing Revolution technique)

In order to use this resource effectively, I strongly recommend you read The Writing Revolution (https://www.thewritingrevolution.org/) as the Single-Paragraph Outline is a TWR technique. The book explains how you can use this method to scaffold the structure of a paragraph in non-fiction writing and build this up to essay writing. This strategy can be used in both primary and secondary.

I have used SPOs three times in the last two years: for my evolution topic, WW2 and Anglo-Saxons. The resources include SPOs based around other parts of the curriculum too (such as our class story at the time) so that children can practise transferring their skills. However, they can be adapted to suit whatever your current topic is.
