The diary recount text contains the following features: language features such as similes, metaphors, alliteration, onomatopoeia, repetition for effect and rule of three; grammar features such as fronted adverbials followed by commas, exclamatory sentences, noun phrases and a variety of nouns to avoid repetition; and punctuation such as exclamation marks, apostrophes for contractions, apostrophes for possession, colons and dashes.
