The Lion King and Refugees

This is a set of slides that I used when teaching children about some of 'the reasons people move'. We addressed rather complex and harsh concepts in a rather child-friendly way. Four concepts that affect all refugees were identified and discussed through the experiences of Simba in the The Lion King. We addressed the concepts of POLITICAL INTRIGUE, FLIGHT, ADJUSTING TO A NEW CULTURE and RECOVERY AND IDENTITY. Once we had solidified these concepts we could look at refugees through the ages as well as at what is happening in the world at the moment in a more informed way.
