I struggled to find any lesson ideas beyond writing a biography. I gave the children cards with events from Alfred's life - some legend and others fact, some dated and others not. There were two main objectives: to order chronologically (although some events have no exact date) and to make inferences as to how these events show us Alfred was great. We made timelines and wrote our inferences beneath each event. Worked well with our Year 3s and 4s. Led to lots of discussion! Hope it's useful to someone.
