Suitable for Key Stage 3 students. Students read a newspaper report and analyse the conventions. They are then taught how to write their own report. The resource is differentiated and follows a clear structure - teach, build, develop and apply learning. The resource covers two lessons but ideally would be taught over a week. Students are prompted to peer and self - assess along the way, so that by the time the teacher marks the work, the students' responses have been edited and revised. Students will have learnt specific skills to enable them to write better newspaper reports. The focus is on the extended writing of the report.
