Research questions, short units and challenging investigations to help students bring together their learning across all three sciences
As things start to wind down towards the end of term, you may start to find that you have the odd lesson or two with which you can be a bit creative. To help you fill some of those gaps, we’ve selected a series of interesting projects, designed to get students making connections between topics in biology, chemistry and physics.
Taking both a cross-disciplinary and cross-curricular approach, this island survival project is sure to spark younger pupils’ imaginations as they recap key learning from the year so far. Science fairs tend to be very popular around this time of year, so why not get in on the action? For a more controlled approach, this project pack* contains an introductory presentation and task cards to inspire groups in a variety of fields.
KS4 and post-16 resources
If you’re short on time, these simply presented questions offer the perfect starting point for thoughtful discussion on complex concepts. Equally as quick, this Big Brother-style activity gets pupils reading about the contributions of well-known scientists before justifying the order of their eviction.
As reasning and problem solving become increasingly important in examination contexts, why not foster these skills by trying out a Stem project?
