All four operations: in context
Lesson presentations and activities
Maths lesson resource pack focusing on breaking down the problem solving process. Suitable for years 4-6. Incudes detailed lesson plan with suggestions how to use the powerpoint and the activity sheets. The word problems are grouped by operation with a separate set of multi step problems. They are also grouped by difficulty with questions for LAPs, APs and HAPs. I copied these questions on different coloured paper and cut them up and children selected one at a time, using the RUCSAC method to solve them. There is also a WILF grid or grid for self assessment using the lesson success criteria.

Great resource - saved me heaps of time.
To build students’ confidence and resilience to tackle multi-staged GCSE questions
To promote and develop strategies for answering multi-staged GCSE questions
To promote independent thinking skills
How to use the materials:
Each problem can be used as 10 min starter activity
Show the problem and give students 5 minutes to work on their own
Reveal any prompts as appropriate
Discuss solutions and model thinking and strategies used to obtain correct answers (5 mins)
Use the problems on a regular basis between now and June

good resource for both FS and GCSE problem solving Maths questions
This is a resource for GCSE Higher Course 1. On the PowerPoint, there are a few worked examples of how to solve real-life problems using RUCSAC and lots of examples for the class to try independently. These questions are on the PowerPoint as well as on a worksheet attached with the presentation. This lesson is heavily based around a Grade D but there are some Grade C extension questions on there too. Enjoy and feedback would be appreciated.

Practice questions, homeworks and assessments
These booklets each contain over 40 reasoning and problem solving questions suitable for KS1, KS2 and KS3 classes. These are the questions that we have been putting out each day in March 2016 on Twitter in the run up to SATS.
The answers are provided with some simple notes at the back of the booklet and for some problems supplementary questions and variation has been provided.
As always we welcome any feedback on the work we are doing and the materials that we are releasing.
Thank you for taking an interest in our work.

A very good and engaging way to teach mastery of maths. Thank you for sharing
This booklet has 3 sections and is aimed at Foundation GCSE students. Section 1 gives hints and tips on how certain functional questions should be set out and attempted. There is a hint and tips section and space for a solution. Section 2 has similar questions but this time does not guide the students, helping them to become more independent. The third section is optional for the teacher to copy and paste exam questions for pupils to attempt. Hope this helps with the 'dreaded' functional questions.
