Learning About Living Things: Frog in a Pond Game

Learning About Living Things: Frog in a Pond Game

This lesson is based on the game 'Red Light, Green Light’, with a twist. The player nominated as ‘it’ is a frog and the rest of the class are insects, trying to cross the pond without being eaten. Students will understand that living things live in different places where their needs are met, will be able to articulate how the game illustrates the relationship between a frog and insects and learn to follow the rules of a simple game.

"Wake, Wiggle & Work" - Fun Songs to Start the Day

"Wake, Wiggle & Work" - Fun Songs to Start the Day

Get the day started on the “Right Foot” with this fun collection of 14 movement songs and games while you review colors, shapes, numbers, letters and more. Your students will want to do these engaging songs over and over. Teachers report that there are enough songs in this collection to provide you with movement music for the whole year. ➢ Research has shown that children do better in school when they begin their day with movement activities. ➢ NOTE: Instrumental versions of some songs are provided to allow students to extend the lesson by creating their own movements. ➢ These songs and movement games will help your students “get the wiggles out” and improve concentration, attention span, listening skills and creativity. ➢ These activities help the increasing number of sedentary students coming to school behind in their brain development due to a lack physical activity. ➢ Using “Wake, Wiggle & Work” everyday is great way to motivate your reluctant learners. ➢ Another benefit is that these activities have been shown to improve students’ attitude toward school and raise attendance rates.

Snow White Lesson Pack Set A

Snow White Lesson Pack Set A

Four lesson detailed plans based on the Grimm's Tale of Snow White. This pack is the first of a series of stand alone packs to use the magical story as inspirational for creative and exciting lessons for young children, this time focusing on the Magic Mirror, Drama and English activities. Most suitable for EYFS and Key Stage 1, but easily adaptable and hugely enjoyable for older children too, these lessons contain clear aims and success criteria for each session, ideas and indications for how the lessons can develop and progress. Differentiation is catered for, and specially tailored activities and tasks are included in the plans to help support and stretch all abilities. The Drama lessons ask the children to develop their skills in mirroring and copying each other, in a co-operative and happy environment, with opportunities for role-play and interaction skill development. Role-play also features in the English lessons, as they look at how to ask and answer written and oral questions. Suggested prior knowledge, requirements and resources are all included in the plans, so you can pick them up and use them, knowing exactly what you need to know, what the children to know, what you need and where you can get things from too if necessary. Notes have been added to make everything as simple as possible, so that you can use the lessons easily.
