THE GREATEST SHOW! - A PLAY OR CLASS ASSEMBLY! **THIS IS THE CLASS ASSEMBLY THAT CAUGHT THE EYE OF HUGH JACKMAN! HE SENT US A GOOD LUCK MESSAGE! - YOU MAY HAVE SEEN ON THE NEWS! FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW TO SEE MORE OR WATCH US ON THE NEWS ON BBC POINTS WEST 6.6.18 ** https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-44382007 A class assembly/play for reception, KS1 or even KS2! We did this with a Reception class - they were incredible! It ran alongside our ‘Circus’ theme. We focussed lots on The Greatest Showman and the song ‘This is Me’. I’ve included the script, presentation (which includes all music) and some costume letters to be sent home. I added photos of the children to the slide show which made it even better. The slide show has all been set up and timings suited us. We had such great feedback from this production! I hope you enjoy it! (SEE MAIN IMAGE FOR REAL PREVIEW! -The font and pics look a little weird in the TES preview pics? But it’s actually all done in Comic Sans! I did have it all in pre-cursive, but knew that some schools wouldn’t have this font, so changed it all to Comic Sans. Hopefully it should be in that font when you download!)

Assessing and Recording without the Exercise Book

Assessing and Recording without the Exercise Book

Children often know more about science that we think; sometimes they just donʼt have the skills to write down their ideas. I wrote this book because I have a strong belief that all children, whatever their literacy levels, should be given the opportunity to share what they know about science. Over the years, Iʼve developed a range of alternative recording methods that allow children to express their knowledge and learning. These have been tried and tested in the classroom. This book outlines these methods, gently guiding the reader through each one. I cover what each recording method looks like, the reason behind using it, some ideas on how to incorporate it into a lesson and how to use it to assess children. My hope is that this book will show teachers that there are ways to record and assess science that are fun and creative and that generate enthusiasm in the classroom. Most importantly - they donʼt involve an exercise book. By using these methods youʼll find that children, particularly those who lack the ability to get things down on paper, will demonstrate an amazing science understanding. They just needed to be given the chance to express it their way! This book was written for primary Teachers but the ideas can be used in secondary schools as well.

Blooms questioning dartboard

Blooms questioning dartboard

A great resource to utilise questioning in class. Add your own questions to the PowerPoint which has been linked to the colour coded slides. The learners should throw an object of your choosing (I use a suction ball or a paper ball) at one of the six colours. This will move the PowerPoint onto a question at varying levels of difficultly depending on which part of the target they hit.. A simple but effective starter or plenary. Note: Two versions have been included. One where challenging questions appear more frequently and one where lower order questions appear more frequently.

Full Script of a play/musical of Oliver Twist

Full Script of a play/musical of Oliver Twist

This is a script that has been performed successfully by primary school aged children with adults, but can be performed by high school age and above. It’s 1 hour without an interval but has been written as two 30 minute Acts. Including the music adds about 10 minutes on each Act. The lines are suitable for children to learn (in our performance Oliver and Dodger were 8 years old) and has a suitable ending for a children’s production. The cover picture gives you an idea of costume and staging. I have had media consents to use this picture.

Included is: - Whole lesson PowerPoint - colourful and detailed - just download and teach from it! - Introduction to Don John worksheet; - Development of Don John worksheet; - Analysis template with success criteria for creating well-structured responses; - Comprehensive lesson plan. The strategies have been selected for the non-specialist to use, and focus on the development of speaking & listening. The pack is ideal for EAL children.
