GERMAN VOCABULARY (2) - GAMES & ACTIVITIES

GERMAN VOCABULARY (2) - GAMES & ACTIVITIES

99 ESSENTIAL WORDS AND PHRASES FOR BEGINNING GERMAN LEARNERS!This set of games and activities really do help students to develop and embed their beginning GERMAN vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. Students can quiz/test themselves and each other on a regular basis - they're a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary 'drilling tasks', and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. This set features 99 BEGINNING WORDS AND PHRASES that students are likely to meet in the INTRODUCTORY stages of their GERMAN learning:- Begrüßungen (2)- die Farben- der Körper/die Körperteile- die Zahlen 21-40- das Wetter- Deutsch im Klassenzimmer (2)- Fragen und Antworten (2)I've described the resource as suitable for ages 7-14, but it does depend on the age at which your students begin GERMAN - the games and activities work well with any appropriate learning group, depending on their starting point. There are two non-editable files in a zipped format - the other files you can see are preview images to give you an idea of what the resource looks like as a whole:FILE 1: GERMAN and ENGLISH game cards, with all the words and phrases to use in a variety of games and activities - I've suggested a range of games and activities that have worked well for me. This file also includes the game card template, which encourages your students to apply their developing knowledge of GERMAN practically and creatively.FILE 2 - this is an 18-page REFERENCE, RECALL & WRITE booklet, best photocopied double-sided, and double-stapled down the left-hand side. This format is very learner-friendly, and easily kept in a learning file or folder for regular reference. All the words and phrases are listed GERMAN-ENGLISH in language categories. There are 3 differentiated RECALL & WRITE activities to help your students really practise and review the vocabulary:CHILLOUT CHALLENGE: students write from memory all the words and phrases in ENGLISH from a GERMAN prompt - all the words/phrases are in their language categoryCHAMPION CHALLENGE: students write from memory all the words and phrases in GERMAN from an ENGLISH prompt - again, all the words and phrases are in their language categorySUPERCHARGED CHALLENGE: all the words and phrases appear in random order, and switch from GERMAN to ENGLISH at each question - this really does put students' memories to the test! Please read the Terms of Use carefully - this resource is copyright, and for single-classroom use only. Body Parts: German Vocabulary Card Sort

Body Parts: German Vocabulary Card Sort

This is a card sort to help students learn the parts of the body (40 words in total). This would be a useful task with younger groups or low ability groups. There are three separate files, depending on how you want to present the task.- The 'teacher copy' shows a grid with all items already matched. - The 'student version' is a random layout, print this out and give to students. They can then cut out the items and match them, or stick them into their workbooks.- The 'quick cut' is designed so that you can produce 10 packs of cards quickly and easily using a guillotine. Each page has the same card 10 times over. This allows you to remove words that may not be suitable or needed.

Was tun, wenn's brennt?

Was tun, wenn's brennt?

A dialogue featuring some of the central characters from the film "Was tun, wenn's brennt?" The dialogue is not an actual scene from the film but is a fantasy love triangle featuring three of the characters. The text focuses on physical description, with a little bit of jealousy thrown in. It is followed by activities in which students must (i) identify key language, (ii) adapt the dialogue, focusing on the words in bold type, and (iii) enhance the dialogue by adding in adverbial phrases from a given list. Students will need to have seen the end of the film to get the joke at the end of the dialogue.
