🖩 Trigonometry 🖩 Calculator Brain Method 🖩

🖩 Trigonometry 🖩 Calculator Brain Method 🖩

An extremely different approach to teaching trigonometry that allows high-ability students to truly understand what the sine function is doing. This tried-and-tested guide shows students how to scale up and down right-angled triangles produced by a unit circle in order to solve any trigonometry problem. This is for students and teachers who don't just want to memorise SOHCAHTOA but really want a deeper understanding of trigonometry. Anyone who has had to apply trigonometry in real-life situations such as engineering or computer game design will know that SOHCAHTOA is not appropriate for our high-ability students. This method is advocated by MEI lecturer Tomi Owens, among others. Not only does it develop a deeper understanding of trigonometry but it allows students to practise Pythagoras and complex enlargements. Be warned, this method may only be suitable for the most able of students.🌟😊🌟 . . . PLEASE RATE THIS RESOURCE . . . 🌟😊🌟

Similar shapes, area & Volume.

Similar shapes, area & Volume.

Lessons on how to find and prove shapes are similar, with their areas and volumes! And how to find missing lengths, areas and volumes.I used these lessons with a middle ability year 10 class, but can be mixed about for any ability or age.All lessons include:5 a day starter, differentiated questions WITH answers, animated, simple examples, plenaryLesson 1:Similar shapes.Explains the definition of similar shapes and how to prove they are similar by finding all angles and sides are the same. Examples of how to find an use scale factor to prove this. Independent questions for students to work on with an exam style question for extension work.I have also included some extra slides I did not get round to using on how to use ratio to find missing sides and name the shape game to finish off the lesson.Lesson 2:Finding area of similar shapes.Clear, simple, animated examples on how to use linear scale factor to find area scale factor and therefore missing areas of similar shapes. Worksheet included for students to work on individually, as well as questions which can be displayed on the board.Lesson 3:Finding volume of similar shapes.Extension from last lesson, using the linear scale factor to find the scale factor used for volume of similar shapes. Clear, simple, animated examples with worksheets for students to complete, as well as questions which can be displayed on the board.Includes extension on working backwards to find the linear scale factors from area and volume scale factor, and extra extension activities which I did not get round to using myself.Hope some of you find this helpful and it saves you some time and stress! Transformations homework or revision resource

Transformations homework or revision resource

This resource is accompanied by an answer document. It is aimed at students who have been taught to solve problems involving Transformations including translations, reflections, rotations and enlargements. The problems include work on basic column vectors, fractional and negative scale factors, combinations of transformations, an understanding of congruent and similar shapes, and construction of rotations involving other angles. A grading system based on the new GCSE specification is suggested, but this resource would be equally useful in the US. The paper can be printed onto a single A3 folded sheet and there are a total of 60 marks. It can be used as a homework or a revision resource, or to assess general understanding at the end of the topic with plenty of extension and differentiated content available.

Geometry for Big Kids Properties of Shapes & Angles

Geometry for Big Kids Properties of Shapes & Angles

One of the best ways to learn math is with hands on, fun inquiry that engages the kids in the concepts involved. This CCSS aligned, differentiated geometry lesson delves into the properties of 2 and 3 dimensional shapes and their angles. The academic language is clearly presented with colourful posters, practice problems and many opportunities through activities with pretzels and marshmallows to grasp the concepts and practice the skills. The academic language is used in all of the teaching materials along with specially created vocabulary cards. The lesson has been used with my 4th and 5th grade students in the past but can easily be adapted for 3rd through 5th grades.• 10 colored vocabulary cards for academic language• 6 different, hands on tasks, crafts and activities• Worksheets for practise with classification and identification of properties.Enjoy!Susan Powerswww.pypteachingtools.com for more ideas and FREEBIES

Levelled/Graded Worksheets - Geometry

Levelled/Graded Worksheets - Geometry

These are levelled/graded worksheets covering the GCSE curriculum and split up into topics. Each individual sheet builds from the most straightforward elements of the topic through to the most challenging. At the top of each sheet is a “RAG” table for students to complete before and/or after completing each section; every statement in a RAG table is connected to a section in the sheet. I have produced these for two reasons: firstly to allow my Year 11 students to focus their revision on the areas that will make it most efficient and secondly to have a bank of worksheets available that students can differentiate themselves for any GCSE topic within lessons. Now with contents page!
