Journal to Functional Skills Maths L2 Success Revision or Homework

Journal to Functional Skills Maths L2 Success Revision or Homework

This is a booklet which covers L2 functional skills topics. My exam board is C&G but also useful for others. Each page includes a question for each topic, a hyperlink to a basic lesson which can be used by learners at home. The same content is accessible by the QR code on each page. Videos and online activities included. At the bottom of each page is an area to write notes and record real life uses and their own worked example along with space for tutor feedback. There is a contents page and a feedback sheet included at the end. Along with a tracking sheet for mock papers.Recommended to print in A5 booklet form. A huge variety of uses.... learners complete a page at the end of a lesson for homework. Could be used as a revision workbook by completing the questions and allows learners to see which areas they are still getting wrong to target areas for revision. Also great to monitor progress or as a diagnostic tool at the start of the year.

Number: Percentages 4 - Increasing and Decreasing by a Percentage (calculator)

Number: Percentages 4 - Increasing and Decreasing by a Percentage (calculator)

This is the fourth lesson I teach on percentages.. specifically looking at how to increase or decrease with a percentage. This is a classic exam question, involving real life contexts like sales, tax, VAT, depreciation of cars etc... This includes how to do questions that need ideally a calculator! This builds on the understanding from lesson 3 and starts to look at the concept of the multiplier, which comes up in lesson 6 on compound interest. This PowerPoint is a whole lesson, so it includes a starter, examples questions with answers and plenary. It also includes learning objectives and key words. ALSO a HELP SHEET to support the least able - looks great when being observed!! You can purchase a bundle of 7-8 lessons I teach on percentages at a reduced cost and this covers all the material needed for KS3 and KS4. This includes the following lessons:1. Fractions to Percentages2. Percentage of an Amount3. Percentage Increase and Decrease (non calc)4. Percentage Increase and Decrease (calc)5. Finding a Percentage Change6. Compound Interest7. Reverse PercentagesNOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thanks.

Addition and Subtraction Puzzle

Addition and Subtraction Puzzle

Suitable for Yr 4 although Yr 5 or 6 pupils could also use this as a warm up/mental maths activity. The activity involves requires pupils to cut out several small triangles the sides of which have a selection of sums and answers. Pupils must complete the sum and match it to it's answer. In the process of doing this they will create a larger triangle. My class have done this and really love it. It's great because the less able pupils can use calculators or work in pairs, while the more able can use any method they like e.g. mental strategies or written. If you do like this activity I also have one for multiplication and division and another with fractions and percentages.
