TV shows / TV program - Spanish- AQA GCSE Reading (Sec. A- T/F) differentiated

TV shows / TV program - Spanish- AQA GCSE Reading (Sec. A- T/F) differentiated

This is a lesson on TV shows for an early GCSE Spanish class which can be used with a higher year 8 students. The lesson includes a scrabble starter to wake the students up followed by phonics practice (resiting tongue twister!). Then I included few slides explaining how to use VES application to check the meaning of conjugated verbs and asked them to try to find few on their own to check understanding and to encourage them to be independent. Then they practice phonics when pronouncing new words (see new vocabulary attached - quizlet) followed by the quizlet activity. Students are to choose what quizlet task they want to do based on their level therefore this engaging task is differentiated. Then I have included a set of slides to introduce a reading section A exam task text - TV program (please note that this is a task taken from BBC Bitesize website and I bear no right on it therefore) . There is also a differentiated Rally Coach activity to consolidate the knowledge of the new vocabulary after they looked at the task whereby they try to translate the sentences in relation to opinions on TV programs. Consequently they have a look at the TV program text again and complete a series of tasks to enhance their understanding - underline cognates, discuss unknown words in a group and learn how to use Spanish Dict application (an explanatory slide given). Finally they analise the way they should answer the questions (True / False) and complete the Reading task and self-assess their work. I have included the handout with the reading task to ease the pain. Enjoy!

Los juguetes - Board Game

Los juguetes - Board Game

This is a simple board game designed to practice talking about toys and games. There are two different versions with different pictures. Students must name the toy in the square they fall on, e.g. “Es un avión. / Es una pelota.” There is also a blank version for the students to fill in with words and/or drawing and create their own personalized board game. INSTRUCTIONS Print on A3 paper or cardboard and laminate. You will need counters and dice. The students take turns to throw the dice and move the counters. On each square they fall, they must construct and say out loud the word that names the picture. If they fall on the goose, they must say the magic formula “De oca a oca y tiro por que me toca”, and then they can advance to the next goose and throw the dice a second time. If they fall on Vuelve a la salida, they must go back to the start. If they fall on Pierdes un turno, they must miss their next turn. The first player to get to* Llegada* wins. The ideal number of players is 2, so print as many copies as you need. If there are more than 4 players, the children will get bored waiting for their turn and they will not have enough speaking practice to make the activity meaningful from the point of view of language learning.

his is a full 60 minute lesson class about Argentina - targeted towards any level Spanish in middle/high school. This lesson includes a no prep powerpoint, guided notes, and a fun communicative activity where students are the Pope and Messi. Powerpoint/Google Slides + Guided Notes: Gives students basic information about the Argentina (Mothers of May, tango, food, sports) - and then gives students rules about how Argentinas typically speak (voseo, y–> SH, ll–>sh). Students then listen to people with Argentina accents in videos, and focus on the accent and pronunciation. Communicative Activity: Students then take on the role of the Pope and Messi- and read a conversation out loud with their partner. They use their best Argentine accents and fill in the blanks of what their friend said (speaking puzzle/fill in the blank activity). After they answer comprehension questions in English. Creative Activity: As an exit ticket, students create a comic or fun drawings, using the slang they learned in class to represent what they’ve learned in a fun new way! I recommend using the google slides (included in the powerpoint) and the notes are included as well!
