FRENCH VOCABULARY CARDS #1

FRENCH VOCABULARY CARDS #1

495 introductory words and phrases, ideal for beginners French, which always give my students a real flying start - there are 990 matching French and English cards, featuring vocabulary in the following groups: **- Les salutations Les jours de la semaine Les mois et les saisons de l’année Les nombres 0-100 Ma famille Les animaux Les matières scolaires Les fruits et légumes Les couleurs Les parties du corps Le temps Les pays Quelle heure est-il? (o’clock/half past) Les adjectifs La nourriture et les boissons Verbes français En ville Mots fréquents Le français pour la salle de classe Questions et réponses Conversation** There are five sets, each with 99 words and phrases (198 vocabulary cards). Each set also has an 18-page reference, recall and write workbook, with 3 differentiated challenges in each, as well as a full French-English alphabetical reference list, which is great as a year-round reference resource, not only when we’re working on these specific vocabulary groups. My students really enjoy applying and practising their French by creating game/quiz cards for each other, which is an additional way of consolidating vocab. I’ve found the best way to help students really learn their vocab is to allow them frequent and regular opportunities to work and learn independently with the cards and workbooks - not only when we’re focusing on these specific vocab groups, but throughout the whole school year - even more advanced students enjoy going ‘back to the start’! You don’t have to use all the cards at once - simply choose the vocab you want to focus on - the sets are really versatile - I use them for directed learning time, free-choice activity, homework, revision/holiday work and cover lessons for example. There are ten non-editable files in a zipped format. My resource is copyright, and can’t be shared with anyone, in any way - for wider departmental use, please purchase the whole-school license - colleagues further afield must purchase their own resource. I’ve explained copyright etc in my Terms of Use, which I’ve included here - please read them. Merci beaucoup, bon apprentissage et bon divertissement !

As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box. ✫ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer. ✫ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. La Rentrée Scolaire - French Taboo Speaking Game

✮ La Rentrée Scolaire - French Taboo Speaking Game ✮ Playing games and having fun is when learning really happens in French class, and here’s a fun activity for la rentrée. You can really get your students speaking with my themed taboo games. French Taboo is a game that is easy to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. This game includes 30 playing cards. You get a set in French and English as well as one in French only. Practical for French immersion and core French programs. Object of the game One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can’t use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. The teams take turn guessing and verifying no Taboo words have been used. You can also play this game in pairs if everyone agrees not to cheat. Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.
