Problem page letter - present and imperfect tense

Problem page letter - present and imperfect tense

(1)
Reading activity suitable for KS4 or high ability Y9. For my mixed ability Y9 class I added paragraph numbers and references for each question on some copies, which helped a bit, but was still too challenging really so I'd save it for top set if you have one! Pupils identify tenses (I did this first, then went through answers before moving on to comprehension) then answer questions about the text. Extension task to extend vocabulary for more able.

Match reasons for jobs in French & English

(3)
Disclaimer: adapted from a teacher at my placement school, not entirely my own work. First pupils do card-sort activity - match reasons for jobs in French and English. When they finish, start filling in the grid. As extension or homework - fill in the 3rd column with a job title (in French) that goes with the reason - there is more than one possible answer for this.

Healthy living questionnaire - Es-tu en forme?

(4)
Multiple choice questionnaire about healthy living, with magazine style results section on powerpoint (add up score for each answer and read a short paragraph about what this means). Used as starting point for writing a paragraph about how healthy you are, but could also swap with someone else and write in 3rd person about their lifestyle.

Edexcel French GCSE - Listening Practice

(11)
Lessons focusing on the different types of Crossover questions (those which appear on both Foundation and Higher papers). There are several key question types which appear each year and try to trick candidates using tenses, negatives, 3rd person etc., as red herrings. These lessons aim to alert pupils to these pitfalls by practising past questions so they can avoid being caught out in their exam. Uses 2010-2013 as we used 2014 for a mock recently. Also included is a "walking talking mock" where pupils had just done the 2014 Higher paper and we went through the whole paper question by question to mark their own and understand mistakes. All exam questions are property of Edexcel. Numbers refer to the time on the recording which you can get from the Edexcel website.

Astérix et Obélix: Mission Cléopatre - introductory worksheet and lesson powerpoint/quiz

(2)
2 resources for studying the film Astérix et Obélix: Mission Cléopatre with a mixed ability Y9 group. Nothing too heavy going as it's an end of term treat after working really hard with lots of grammar for the past few months. 1st lesson = introduction. What is Astérix? What are bande dessinée? Pupils research online to complete worksheet. Then watch trailer. 2nd lesson = character info match-up starter, then watching the film for a good chunk of the lesson, then true or false quiz.
