First couple of lessons - countries, nationalities, saying where you usually go and where you went last year. Puzzle sheet and link to consolidate on a Friday afternoon. Resources for a Year 9 low/middle ability group roughly following Expo 3, Module 3 (en bonne sante). Covers: -body parts/illness/symptoms -food and drink - opinions, food groups, nutrients -exercise, frequency -il faut + infinitives -near future -imperfect tense as vocab (key verbs - je mangeais/buvais/jouais/faisais)

Approximately 8-week unit of work on the topic of holidays produced/adapted for Year 8 Set 3. Focus on recognition and use of 3 tenses. Leads up to an unseen writing assessment task (aiming to prepare pupils more for the requirements of the new GCSE as opposed to memorising for controlled assessment). Some powerpoints are 1 lesson, some are 2 or 3. A few slides are taken from other TES resources so many thanks if you recognise your work.

Practice translation activities in the style of the new GCSE. Worksheet includes a short version of the AQA mark scheme. I go through the correct translation on the board then get pupils to make corrections and peer assess before I mark their work. Using these every 2-3 weeks as a 10-15 minute activity, to assess pupils regularly and keep exam skills ticking over, rather than doing a massive exam at the end of each topic.

Powerpoints aimed at very high ability KS4 working towards a controlled assessment on Healthy Living. I will add each week's resources as I get to them. -Week 1 - present tense, advanced negatives, pronouns y and en. -Week 2 - food groups, nutrition, describing different foods (EXT: bien que + subjunctive). (JUST ADDED: Guess the food reading which I had missed off before.) -Week 3 - sports and exercise - using jouer and faire in a range of tenses (+ time phrases) -Week 4 - imperfect tense. How your lifestyle differed in the past - Week 4b - Mauvaises habitudes. Opinions of smoking and alcohol. -Week 5 - Giving advice for a healthy lifestyle (with il faut, on doit, il est important de) (EXT: il faut que + subjunctive) -Week 6 - Your future plans for a healthy lifestyle I have added a checklist for pupils to self assess when preparing their draft (C grade and A grade version). The documents entitled "Revision" are helpsheets for pupils to refer to when producing written work.

French Christmas traditions activity for the end of term. To be done as a treasure hunt / kind of running dictation activity. Powerpoint slides printed 2 per sheet, cut up and stuck around classroom walls. Grid between 2-3 pupils. I pupil at a time per team can get up and look at the pictures, bringing back information (the French caption) to fill in the grid.

6-8 week topic on free time, aimed at Year 8 Set 3. Includes sports and hobbies, opinions, perfect tense and TV. Culminates in a Reading assessment. A few slides may be taken from other TES resources. If you recognise your work, many thanks for sharing and let me know if you want to be credited.

5 weeks worth of lessons on the topic of school, prior to task-setting for a written controlled assessment. -Audit of prior knowledge (basic vocab) -Giving opinions (basic and GCSE) -Talking about compulsory and optional subjects in England and France. -The school day in England and France (revising telling the time) -School uniform -Direct object pronouns -School rules -Future plans in the near future tense, future tense, and with si clauses.

Vocabulary lists produced for most modules of Y7, 8 and 9 French, roughly following the Expo textbook. Year 7: 1) Basic introductions, numbers, colours 2) Family and pets 3) House and home 4) School and daily routine Year 8: 1) Revision module (talking about family, where you live) + jobs and weather 2) Temps libre - introducing past tense 3) Les sorties - modal verbs, clothes 4) Manger et boire 5) Les vacances Year 9: 1) Future plans (Module 2 of Expo 3) 2) Interests/leisure/culture (Module 1 of Expo 3) 3) Healthy living

UPDATE: Added version for a more able group, including reading task. Goes with Expo 2 Vert, Module 3, Unit 1 'Tu veux sortir?' Covers 3 lessons with a low ability Y8 group. 1st lesson - activities/infinitives. Slide 4 is a sheet to print off. Forming Qs with 'tu veux', speaking activity. 2nd lesson - reading task. Understanding more detailed messages with meeting place, time, etc. 3rd lesson - writing own invitation. Extension work on French text speak.

A lesson I have prepared for induction with Y6. Would also be suitable for a first Y7 lesson in September. 1) Asking and saying what your name is. 2) Quiz in groups - knowledge about Spain/Spanish-speaking countries. 3) Video clip to introduce greetings. 4) Que tal? + various responses Quiz is adapted from a resource a colleague sent me, so may have come from TES before.

Comprehension Qs then find various features, in an account of work placement. Produced for a high ability Year 10 group. Had just revised the perfect tense ready to write their own account of work placement the following week. Several weeks worth of powerpoint slides following Expo 3 Vert Module 2 (L'avenir). Starts with on va + infinitive, mostly talking about free time. Then introduces rest of aller, and focuses on je vais + infinitive for writing a timeline of future plans at different ages. Have also included a few worksheets.

5-6 week module on Food and Drink, aimed at Year 8 Set 3 out of 4. Culminates in a speaking assessment with 5 questions to prepare and learn. Some slides may be taken from other TES resources. Match up worksheet on food items Card sort of shops - match picture of item with Spanish item name and shop name. Grid to record information in afterwards with simple true or false and writing extension.

Introducing and using colours creatively with Year 7, based on poems by French primary children found online. Lesson 1: Presentation of colours and opinions. Lesson 2: Reading a poem, highlighting key features (nouns, adjectives), discussing similes. Pupils write first couplet of poem. Lesson 3: Preparing for independent working - dictionary skills, how to know if a word is masculine or feminine. Adjectival agreements. Continue drafting poem. 1 or 2 more lessons needed to produce display work.

Worksheet on the topic of clothing designed for low ability Y8 groups to get on with independently during speaking assessment. Designed for a group who struggled to complete Linguascope sheets and Gianfranco Conti sheets in a cover lesson so needed something simpler.

Reflexive verbs for high ability Y9. Working towards a paragraph about a day in the life of a celebrity of their choice. Covers: -key infinitives -conjugation in present tense using mini-whiteboards to respond -sequencing an account with puis, ensuite, etc. -using reflexives in a range of tenses -advanced structures "avant de" + inf and "apres avoir" + pp

For Year 8 low ability group on pancake day. Links in with current module (just starting food and drink - Expo 2, Module 4) but includes some cultural aspects on la Chandeleur and Mardi gras. Main idea for resource (pictures and vocab) taken from another TES resource (http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Les-cr-and-234-pes-6071144/) but I have added to it to keep my class busy for a whole lesson.
