Chemistry Paper 2 Revision

(0)
A resource designed to support students with independent revision ahead of their Chemistry Paper 2 (Edexcel Combined Science). Each box represents a topic that is assessed in Paper 5. Print A3, double sided and students to work in exercise books or on lined paper.
Ionic equations and half equations

Ionic equations and half equations

(0)
A sheet which models how to write ionic equations. This sequential model shows students the progressive nature of word equations, formula equations, balanced equations, ionic equations and then half equations. This sheet was created with independence in mind, allowing students to practice writing a range of equations accessible to all students. Lower attaining students (foundation tier) can practice word and balanced formula equations whilst higher attaining students (higher tier) can practice writing ionic and half equations.
Y6-Y7 Science Transition Week

Y6-Y7 Science Transition Week

(0)
A sequence of lessons planned for Year 6 transition (induction) week. The booklet corresponds to the powerpoint presentation and incorporates cross curricular literacy and numeracy as well as working scientifically skills. The tasks were also planned to provide teaching staff with an insight into pupil hand writing, literacy, numeracy and presentation before joining us in September.
Edexcel CC9 CC10 CC11 CC12 Revision Clock
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

Edexcel CC9 CC10 CC11 CC12 Revision Clock

(0)
Revision clock created for a low ability Year 10 group studying Edexcel Combined Science. The revision clock includes ‘easy’ revision tasks referencing the Edexcel GCSE Combined Science textbook and suggesting 10 minutes per task. This was also designed to build confidence for a demoralised, struggling group inherited this year.
A Crackin' Lesson

A Crackin' Lesson

(0)
Observed lesson for the AQA 9-1 combined trilogy specification, C7 Organic Chemistry topic. + Fun and engaging homework included for pupils to complete as revision. + The 'what I know about hydrocarbons' assessment sheet is used to demonstrate progress with pupils returning to this at the end of the lesson to add 'new' learning in a different coloured pen.
C2.3 Solubility
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

C2.3 Solubility

(0)
A lesson designed for a mid - high ability year 8 class following the Activate 2 scheme of work in Key Stage 3. This lesson contains differentiated learning objectives and legendary (challenge) tasks. The practical mat can be adapted for any practical investigation to familiarise pupils with scientific skills.
Testing Gases Hanging Display

Testing Gases Hanging Display

(3)
To be printed double sided and laminated. Holes to be pierced in the top and bottom corners of each sheet and attach together using treasury tags. This makes an excellent 3 level visual hanging display relating to NEW AQA SPEC (9-1) CHEMISTRY 5.8.2 TESTING GASES.
Reactivity series hanging display
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

Reactivity series hanging display

(0)
To be printed double sided, halogen and symbol on one side, properties on the reverse. These can then be laminated and attached together using treasury tags, making an excellent hanging visual display.
AQA C7 Properties of hydrocarbons
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

AQA C7 Properties of hydrocarbons

(0)
Complete lesson on the properties of hydrocarbons for the new AQA Combined Science 9-1 GCSE course. Literacy task included where pupils have to read, highlight and tabulate information.
Periodic Table Display
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

Periodic Table Display

(4)
First 20 elements of the periodic table wall display, including electronic configuration and number of protons, electrons and neutrons. To be printed, laminated and placed in groups and periods (see photo).
Reactions of Metals
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

Reactions of Metals

(0)
A well structured worksheet for pupils studying the Activate 2, C2(3) Metals and Acids topic. Differentiated and scaffolded worksheet for pupils to practice writing word equations and chemical formula equations for metals reacting with Hydrochloric acid, Oxygen and Water.
Making Salts
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

Making Salts

(10)
Students to practice writing word equations, formula equations and balancing formula equations using this differentiated worksheet. I taught this to a high ability year 7 group to challenge. They struggled to understand which acid produced which salt. In light of this, I produced this worksheet to scaffold for these pupils accordingly. Each task is graded so demonstrates progress and attainment once stuck in exercise book.

Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Combined Science Core Chemistry Paper 3

(0)
A bundle of revision crosswords and a bundle of fun for your pupils to actively engage with the combined science content. These resources were produced in conjunction with the new Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Combined Science course and covers CC1 States of Matter, CC2 Methods of Separating and Purifying Substances, CC3 Atomic Structure, CC5 Ionic Bonding, CC6 Covalent Bonding, CC7 Types of Substances, CC8 Acids and Alkalis, CC10 Electrolytic Processes, CC11 Obtaining and Using Metals AND CC12 Reversible Reactions and Equilibria. Chemistry, Paper 3 topics.
KS2-KS3 Transition Project Science
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

KS2-KS3 Transition Project Science

(1)
An engaging and fun resource targeted for Year 6 pupils who will be making the step from primary to secondary school. Pupils attempt the 'Alien Missions' (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) to not only prepare them for Science at KS3 level but also to inspire them to enjoy Science and understand that Science is comprised of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The Biology mission is a research based task, whilst the Chemistry and Physics missions contain practical aspects. The final page of this project is then an assessment of the 3 missions pupils complete (using Blooms taxonomy - state, describe, explain).
Biofuels starter
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

Biofuels starter

(1)
Biofuels cryptogram to be used as a starter/plenary to a lesson. Made in conjunction with the Edexcel Core Chemistry specification C1.28 Biofuels (C1: Topic 5). Challenge activity as an extension and answer to cryptogram on second page. Enjoy!
Comparing properties of elements and compounds
AIMacaulayAIMacaulay

Comparing properties of elements and compounds

(4)
This innovative activity is called read, highlight, tabulate and is a literacy based task. In year 7, pupils have to understand that the properties of elements are different to that of the compound they comprise (eg. water, oxygen and hydrogen). Blooms taxonomy has been integrated into this activity to provide a differentiated worksheet where pupils can make progress as they move through tasks 1-3. Pupils can then peer/self assess the 6 mark answer using the success criteria provided. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave feedback, putting forward your views, This activity has been adapted from the Activate 1 KS3 textbook.
Elements, Compounds and Molecules

Elements, Compounds and Molecules

(5)
This worksheet has been differentiated for use in mixed ability classes. Blooms taxonomy has been integrated into the questions so that pupils can work their way through the sheet and make progress (Levels have also been indicated, ranging from Level 3-Level 6). My school are using Activate 1 and 2 at KS3. My current Year 7 class were taught the first 3 lessons (elements, atoms and compounds) and then given this as an AfL tool before moving on to chemical formula. Year on year I find that Year 7 pupils (and KS4 pupils) struggle to understand what an element, atom and compound is and the difference between the 3. This worksheet was designed to assist pupils with the these concepts.

Aimed at Year 7 pupils, ideal for teachers using the Activate 1 textbook (Kerboodle). Cut out the dominoes - answers on left hand side and questions on right hand side. Pupils have to place dominoes in correct positions to complete the circle. I have laminated 15 sets for us in my classroom.
