This worksheet has been differentiated for use in mixed ability classes. Blooms taxonomy has been integrated into the questions so that pupils can work their way through the sheet and make progress (Levels have also been indicated, ranging from Level 3-Level 6). My school are using Activate 1 and 2 at KS3. My current Year 7 class were taught the first 3 lessons (elements, atoms and compounds) and then given this as an AfL tool before moving on to chemical formula. Year on year I find that Year 7 pupils (and KS4 pupils) struggle to understand what an element, atom and compound is and the difference between the 3. This worksheet was designed to assist pupils with the these concepts.

Keywords and ideas from the B4 Bioenergetics topic for the AQA 9-1 Combined Science GCSE course. Answers included and some letters have multiple questions to ensure a broad range of content covered. I use these quizzes as starters close to examinations and in revision/intervention sessions. Repetition is the key and I aim for pupils to sit each quiz 3x and they record their score each time to show progress. The questions and answers are further used to initiate further verbal questioning.
