As an experienced teacher of English in Secondary school, I know how useful resources can be (and also how time consuming they can be to create). I have therefore created a range of resources to share that have all been tried and tested with students. Any questions or feedback would be brilliant!

Relative extracts included. Used with middle ability Year 9 but could be adapted easily for younger years. A few lessons based on extracts from ‘1984’ by George Orwell, but also some non-fiction input and imaginative writing opportunities. Focus on cultural capital and vocabulary.

Jekyll and Hyde: Carew Murder Case Cluedo

(1)
A ‘cluedo’ style activity lesson in which students make predictions about who the victim, perpetrator, location, weapon and witness could be in ‘The Carew Murder Case’ PRIOR to having read the chapter. Pupils make a general guess from the cards, then use the quote clues to improve their prediction before reading the chapter and reflecting on it. Great resource for creating intrigue and introducing the events, suitable for KS3 AND KS4.

This paper covers the following AOs: AO1, AO2, AO4 (19th Century Reading) and AO5, AO6 (Imaginative Writing). There is also a basic mark scheme I have created (minus indicative content from the larger questions). Hopefully it proves useful for assigning revision tasks!

English Language Paper 2 Practice Paper Questions & Texts (Edexcel)

Here are two related texts with a shared theme of Saving Earth that I have sourced and generated Q1-9 for. These are Edexcel exam style questions for English Language Paper 2. (The questions are written on a word document so answer spaces would need to be added if you wanted to use it as an actual paper). This will be a useful revision resource for Year 10 and 11 if you want to keep the official papers for mocks etc.
