KS3 - Y8 - Physics - Refraction

(1)
This is a complete lesson on refraction that I prepared for a Y8 class. Starter task refreshes reflection using a ray box and mirrors to guide light around an obstacle course. Introduce the idea of refractions followed by a practical investigation. PPT uses the idea of a car driving across mud to explain refraction. Key words are introduced and a DoodleScience clip gives some practical uses of refraction. Includes a PowerPoint, Lesson Plan and HomeWork Sheet. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review

KS3 - Y7 - Physics - Streamlining

(0)
This is a complete lesson on streamlining that I prepared for a Y7 class. Starter introduces the idea of streamlining with PPT examples. A practical involves dropping various plasticine shapes through a wallpaper paste mixture to determine the most streamlined shape. Then a plenary to share the class findings. Includes a PowerPoint, Lesson Plan and Practical Work Sheet. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review

KS3 - Y7 - Physics - Distance Time Graphs

(0)
This is a complete lesson on distance time graphs I prepared for a Y7 class. Start by deciding who walks fastest from a data table which then introduces the idea of speed = distance / time (m/s) Some worked examples and then onto distance-time graphs: what is involved (axes, labels, origin, data etc) and then onto gradients and how they help us visualise speed. Finishing off with describing a journey using a graph. Includes a PowerPoint, Lesson Plan and Work Sheet. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review
KS3 - Y7 - Physics - Friction Investigation

KS3 - Y7 - Physics - Friction Investigation

(0)
This is a complete lesson introducing forces that I prepared for a Y7 class. Start by applying forces to a piece of paper, differentiating pushes and pulls, classifying actions as pushes, pulls or twists. Introducing contact and non-contact forces and moving on to force arrows. Then a non-contact force investigation using a balloon to pick up paper. Includes a PowerPoint and Lesson Plan. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review

KS3 - Physics - Series and Parallel Circuits

(1)
This is a complete lesson on measuring current and voltage that I prepared for a Y7 class. Covers an introduction to setting up circuits using smbol cards, “How does a lightbulb work?”, and settig up real circuits using ammeters and voltmeters. Includes a PowerPoint, Lesson Plan and Circuit Symbol cards to print and cut out. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review.

KS3 - Physics - Measuring Current and Voltage

(3)
This is a complete lesson on measuring current and voltage that I prepared for a Y7 class. Covers a step by step guide to setting up series and parallel circuits and recording results as well as three-way differentiated worksheets. Includes a PowerPoint, Lesson Plan and Differentiated Worksheets. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review.

KS3 - Physics - Friction

(0)
This is a complete lesson on friction for a Y7 class. Covers an introduction to frictional force, “can friction ever be useful?” and an investigation into frictional forces on shoes moving across different surfaces . Includes a PowerPoint, Lesson Plan and Investigation Worksheet. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review.

KS3 - Physics - Distance Time

(0)
This is a complete lesson on distance-time graphs that I prepared for a Y7 class. Covers typical speeds, calculating the mean for a set of walking speed results, plotting distance time on a graph and introducing the concept of gradient and its relation to speed. Includes a PowerPoint, Lesson Plan and Worksheet. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review.

GCSE - Physics - Scalars and Vectors - Distance and Displacement

(3)
A powerpoint that I created to review the vector and scalar quantities and then move on to the difference between displacement and distance. It includes several worked examples (featuring my dog, Peach) that use simple trigonometry (SOCAHTOA) and Pythagora’s theorom. I used this with a Y9 tutee but it could be useful for Y10/Y11. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review.

GCSE - Physics - Specific Heat Capacity

(1)
A small powerpoint that I made to explain a step by step solution to an AQA GCSE Higher Paper question involving specific heat capacity. I wanted to model a clear and methodical approach. If you find this resource useful then it would be great if you could leave me a review.
