Are you looking for a fun way to motivate and help children learn new vocabulary regardless of your musical background? The Sing2Write project was inspired by a love of music and language and how the two together can support young children to embed key vocabulary as an integral part of the English curriculum. This supports non specialist music teachers and children from 3-7 years. Singing is one of the fundamental ways to inspire, motivate, and enthuse young children when learning new vocabulary. The songs and activities are inspired by a rich variety of texts within the school curriculum, with the goal to motivate all teachers and children, regardless of their musical knowledge, to sing along to the simple songs. The songs are designed to be easy to learn and help develop confidence and knowledge of new vocabulary. Watch on YouTube here… https://youtu.be/OndixWaJQv4 In this resource, you will exclusively get… *A copy of the original song chords and lyrics. *Worksheets to support learning the days of the week. *Story sequencing activity Letter writing Days of the week for display Borders for writing New vocabulary dictionary Lighthouse keepers logbook Speech bubble/thought bubble for the seagulls Instructional writing support worksheets The soundtrack and lyrics for singing support All copyright of the song and worksheets belongs to Classberry. KS1 Writing Assessment and Skill Progression with special reference to EAL students

NOTES FOR TEACHERS 8 stages of writing progress that tracks written skills in fiction, including phonics, vocabulary, grammar, composition, handwriting and punctuation. It can be used to track progress for children learning English as a foreign language or with some small adjustments for all pupils in KS1. A bank of skills which can also be used as targets for the next steps in their learning. Written after the end of National Curriculum levels to form part of our new progress and assessment in school. We decided to focus on tracking fiction as non-fiction wasn’t able to reflect the range of skills we felt we needed to track. If you would like the second part of this progression tracker you can find the KS2 development over on TES shop ClassGems.

Little Seed Colouring and Story Book

Children will enjoy learning about the character Little Seed, a persistent but impatient seed who wants to see the big things in life. He begins a big adventure and along the way he meets some helpful friends who teach him about the places they love to be. A printable original story and presentation to share in class. The story would be a lovely introduction to a new topic on types of trees and link perfectly within a topic on plants and growth. Also great to be used in an assembly to either share or perform and could be turned into a play by including the songs. **Please note this is a print your own digital version with educational activity. To purchase your own copy of the book it is available on amazon here… https://www.amazon.es/Little-Seed-Colouring-Storybook-Kids/dp/1710864273/ref=sr_1_8?__mk_es_ES=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&crid=32TFOQPBL90LN&keywords=little+seed+colouring+book&qid=1668961662&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjkwIiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=little+seed+colouring+book%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-8 Pupils can add their own colours and sing along with the story songs on my channel including the popular germination song…[https://youtu.be/kmgnE1acVjI] The story explores ideas of self discovery and belonging. The Lighthouse Keeper Displays

I never get bored of telling this story to children, I just love the way they enjoy the naughty seagulls stealing his lunch. It's also one of my favourite displays to create with blues of the sea and contrast of the Lighthouse. There's so many literacy opportunities- speech bubbles, instructional writing, descriptive writing, the list goes on...
The video was created for our Spanish students to give them an opportunity to listen to English over the summer holidays, however it can also be used as a starter for your class to create their own 'surprise' sandwich... My favourite food worksheet included.

Non-fiction Australian Animals Display

As part of the class topic ‘IPC A to B’ in KS1 we studied places near and far. The children created information booklets about the animals that live in Australia and we tried to create their habitat environment influenced by the outback representations through aboriginal artwork. This became the backdrop for the display. Thanks to Sparklebox for the Animal printouts (booklet covers) this display can be easily recreated. To recreate the display… Boarder- Strips of card coloured using wax crayons looking at the aboriginal artist De Young https://deyoung.famsf.org/blog/tags/tags/aboriginal-art MAIN DISPLAY BACKGROUND Cut a large piece of brown, orange or yellow paper. Sketch out a pattern buy taking your pencil from one end of the paper to the other in a wave line. Fill in with lines and circles as above and painting using poster paint. For the title a really good website called instant display.com www.instantdisplay.com has aboriginal patterned display text, this one the children coloured.
