I currently work in a Secondary School for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. These resources have all been tailored for these students but can easily be adapted for your students, the lessons focus on active learning with as much group work and discussion/debate as possible. I am a Religious Studies subject specialist but I currently deliver a range of subjects including: English, PSHE, Citizenship, History, Geography and Young Enterprise. Please leave a review :)

This resource was recently judged outstanding in an observation it was delivered to SEMH KS3 students but is also suitable for KS2. The resources has students working in a carousel activity developing their understanding of imagery through eating sherbet lemons, students are engaged and excited from the start. The resource includes the lesson plan, PowerPoint and worksheets including AfL opportunities throughout. Lesson develops skills in collaboration, independent reading and writing, self-assessment and peer-assessment. Links to my Harry Potter SoW which is also available to download.

These are resources that I have used on multiple occasions, they are very thought provoking and excellent at developing empathy/ tackling difficult questions that students may have. The resource includes: > a PowerPoint for the lesson/assembly including activities and discussion questions > a separate PowerPoint of images and questions for students to consider (I used music as the images were playing) > an empathy worksheet for after the activity Multiple opportunities for AfL and feedback throughout the lesson, suitable for students throughout KS2, KS3 and KS4.

This is a worksheet that I have used for a range of topics where students need to develop their empathetic skills by putting themselves in the position of someone else. Has been very powerful when used on topics such as: Holocaust Memorial Day and the Refugee Crisis, especially when paired with imagery or musical stimulus.

This is a unit of work designed to cover 6 weeks of lessons, it was created for Yr.7 students with SEMH needs but can easily be adapted and used for students across KS2 and KS3. The unit covers multiple extracts including Dracula and Frankenstein and has multiple opportunities for extended writing and discussion about the topics covered, this unit allows students to access Gothic Horror creatively allowing them to create their own interpretations on the novels studied. This is a lesson that I used for a recent observation which was graded outstanding, the lesson was delivered to students working on P Levels up to Yr.4 and is differentiated appropriately providing challenge for all learners. The lesson is designed for two 50 minute lessons and includes all activities and worksheets, students loved this series of lessons and were engaged throughout. This is a resource that I used for an observation lesson on ISIS, this was a lesson that was requested by Yr.10 students following on from information that they had learnt from a unit of work on the Refugee Crisis (also available to download). This lesson focuses on an introduction to ISIS and includes multiple opportunities for discussion, debate and collaborative work. Opportunities for assessment for learning throughout, resource includes the PowerPoint and worksheets in one document and the 5 minute lesson plan designed by Ross Morrison McGill.

This is a resource that I have used a number of times and that has contributed towards outstanding feedback in lesson observations. This can be used to help students identify the skills that they have developed in different parts of the lesson/topic/SOW this worksheet is linked to a particular lesson where students worked on these for strands of: Effective Participator, Team Worker, Independent Enquirer and Reflective Learner. The strands link to PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills) and have been used with students ranging between Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and in a range of subjects including English, PSHE and Citizenship.

These booklets were used during Yr.7 Term 1 with students with SEMH needs with a range of abilities. It includes comprehension activities linked to Chapter 1, general literacy activities and opportunities for self-assessment and extension work. Attached is a series of lessons that I delivered for Yr.9 students with SEMH needs, these lessons were used in preparation for them embarking on the Tenner Challenge. In these lessons the students begin to look into the purpose of advertisements and logos and then move on to design their own advertisement and logo. This was a very successful unit in which students design their own product/service to make a profit, develops skills in literacy, numeracy. PSHE and teamwork.
