KS2 / KS3 French Personality Descriptions printable writing activities (worksheets and fun puzzles) to help you plan lessons for a Les Traits de Caractere (de Personnalite) unit. They are based around 20 adjectives to describe personality (word mats included) and some could be used to review adjectival agreement, the use of être and common intensifiers (très, un peu, assez, trop etc). There are 4 worksheets and 3 puzzles (with additional easier versionsof 4 of these resources). Includes translation exercises, basic comprehension, a word search, crossword puzzle and hidden word puzzle. Full answer keys provided. Vocabulary support pages are included. Vocab support pages: A support word mat of key questions and all 20 adjectives, a table of adjectival agreement and a card of six common intensifiers.
4 worksheets (with answer keys). Worksheets 1 and 2 come in 1-and 2-star versions, with 1-star being for lower ability, younger or less experienced students. Worksheets 3 and 4 are comprehension worksheets, with Worksheet 4 being more challenging.
A hidden word puzzle to review the unit by having students spot mistakes with the character trait adjectives (including adjectival agreement) in very short sentences. They then assemble the letters in the corresponding boxes to find a French word to complete a final sentence.
A word search puzzle: there’s an easier one-star version, with the start of the French words given, and a two-star version without that support. There’s a hidden sentence challenge using the remaining letters.
A crossword puzzle: The 1-star version of the crossword contains a word bank for support. Use the 2-star version if you would prefer your students not to have this. There’s an extra challenge at the end here too.

Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths dice games for place value up to millions and decimals to 3 places. Includes games for 4, 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers (thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands and millions) and 1, 2 and 3 decimal places (tenths, hundredths and thousandths). A fun, more challenging and strategic twist on an old idea, these 19 games will make students think carefully about where to place digits, practise their ordering skills, develop interesting tactics and prolong the uncertainty until the final moments. 24 pages, PDF format.
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups
Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens
Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups.
There is a mixture of Make the Biggest Number, Make the Smallest Number and Greater or Less Than games
Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any row or column, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty! Keeping an eye on each other’s numbers as they form, players will begin to spot new tactics; for instance they might notice that a 1 placed in a thousands place might not be so costly if there’s a 9 in the ten thousands place, depending on what their opponent is doing on their grid. They can also practise saying their completed numbers aloud at the end.
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice, the games still work with a 1-6 dice. Alternatively:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some
Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file)
Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)

GRID PUZZLE: Students put the French body part words into the grid to reveal a related sentence in the shaded boxes. There’s a supported, one-star version with the first letter of each word and a two-star version without this support.
HIDDEN WORD PUZZLE: Students work individually or in pairs or small groups to find translation errors with body parts vocabulary. When they find one, they circle the letter printed in the same box. At the end, they rearrange the circled letters to make another body part word.
CROSSWORD PUZZLE: The clues involve students completing French phrases. An easier, one-star version gives students the first three letters of each word that they need to write into the grid. Accents not included.

A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / shopping skill. A total of 16 boards.

2 lower ability game boards (same boards as above but with mostly less challenging calculations)
Answer grids for all 4 boards for at-a-glance checking by pupils or teacher
Intended to be laminated and used again and again. Children can work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice each time to find which column they have to pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a particular column, they could skip a go or roll again. Pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record answers on the board or add an initial or symbol if both players / teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but it works fine in A4. The LA versions have a star next to the title but could perhaps be printed on different coloured card or paper if required.
LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES
Four 20-card sets (£1, £5, £10, £20) that can start with any card. A child reads the ‘I spend’ part first with others working out whether they have the relevant ‘I give you’. Use as a game for groups or perhaps as a whole class / whole group starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success.

FOUR IN A ROW: 4 different boards. Boards 1 to 3 feature 18 items, while Board 4 contains an extended range of 36. Print and laminate. Works well in A3 but A4 is good too. Students roll dice, then choose a clothing word from that number column and say it in French. If correct, use a dry-wipe pen to mark that box (opponents could use a different colour).
BATTLESHIPS-STYLE GRID GAME: 6 sets of 2 identical cards. Laminate and use dry-wipe pens. Players take the same number card as their opponent, place a cross in 4 boxes to choose clothing and colour, and ask questions to discover the location of their opponent’s crosses. (As-tu une robe rouge? etc.). The first to correctly guess all 4 wins.
‘I HAVE…WHO HAS?’ GAME: Features 36 key words. 2 versions (one with an image on both sides to support lower ability or less experienced students). Print and laminate the cards, which form a continuous loop.
JIGSAW PUZZLE: Laminate for repeated use. Students match French clothing words with correct images.
VOCAB SUPPORT: 3 pages to support students playing the games, if required. Page 1 has a core range of vocabulary, Page 2 has an extended range and Page 3 has a table of French colours with adjectival agreement, for use with Battleships.

FOUR IN A ROW
A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice. Originally designed for Key Stage 1 (KS1) Year 2 (Y2) and Lower KS2 Year 3 or 4 (Y3 / Y4), or for older students requiring consolidation. In Scotland, use for First Level Maths, Primary 3 or 4 or early Second Level.

Answer grids for at-a-glance checking by pupils or teacher

Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £1, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required.
LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES
A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the ‘I spend’ part first as they make their ‘purchase’ with others working out if they have the relevant ‘I give you’. Use for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success.

Fun times tables revision activities! Speed up students’ mental recall with these easy-to-prepare, printable, well-differentiated times tables facts board games. Use as starter activities / warm ups in Key Stage 2 (especially Year 4, 5 and 6 - Y4 / Y5 / Y6) Maths lessons, or early finisher activities, morning starters, or as part of a multiplication unit. There are 24 pages of boards (multiple versions of the same boards for differentiation and eco-printing), together with full instructions for the teacher. Simply choose the pages you want to print and laminate for children to play using dry-wipe / whiteboard pens. In Scotland, use for Second Level Maths, Primary 5, 6 and 7.
CONTENTS:
Boards 1-4 feature 2 to 9 times tables calculations
Boards 5-8 are versions of the first four boards with some 11 and 12 times table calculations added

**Further differentiation: **All 2-9 times table versions come in a differentiated format too, with sidebars added, featuring all answers listed in numerical order. This works really well with lower ability or younger pupils who require a little more support. They can score through the number they have used each time.
The boards were originally designed to be printed in A3 size so you may need to quickly adjust your printer settings to print in A4, which works fine too.
INSTRUCTIONS: Two children (or two pairs of children) take it in turns to write an answer over a times table question on the board. Ideally they use a different colour whiteboard pen, however if this is not possible they could add an initial or symbol each time too. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. The times tables questions are designed to print in faintish grey (on the black and white versions) or white (on the colour versions) so as not to get in the way of the children’s answers. It works especially well if pupils roll a dice to determine which column they should answer a question from. The columns are numbered 1-6. If the column is already completed, they could either miss a go or roll again.

The Presentation has been included in UK, Canadian and US versions with minor amendments to spelling. The other difference is the use of ‘bruns’ instead of ‘marron’ to describe brown eyes in the Canadian version as this is more common. Most text in the PowerPoints is editable anyway, if you wish to make changes to suit your students.
