The word ‘transportation’ replaces ‘transport’ in the US versions too.
Includes a core range of 18 transport types: plane, bicycle, boat, bus, car, campervan, by foot, helicopter, horseback, hot air balloon, lorry, motorbike, pick-up truck, ship, submarine, taxi, tractor, train, van. Additional transport types feature in some of the pages.

Translation cards: A set of 24 cards for oral practice of describing people in French, mixing both physical descriptions and personality. Print and laminate as required. 2 worksheets (with answer keys). Worksheet 1 features jumbled words and comes in 3 versions to suit students of differing ability or experience. The one-star version has the start and end of words already printed for the students, the two-star version has the first letter of each word printed, and the three-star version is more challenging, with only un/une printed. Worksheet 2 is a comprehension drawing challenge in a one-star version with a word bank and a two-star version with no word bank and an extra challenge.
In the grid puzzle, students translate the vocabulary and enter the words into the grid. The shaded boxes should contain words to complete the sentence at the bottom of the page. Students should write one letter on each of the dashes. KS2 / KS3 Beginners French Language Colours / Colors vocabulary PowerPoint lesson presentation, printable games, activities, a worksheet, crossword and word search. Introduction and revision of 11 French colour (or color) words. The colours are introduced using the questions ‘C’est quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour itself) and ‘C’est de quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour of objects / animals etc).
My FSL / MFL French basics resources and units suit students beginning French, near beginners (and intermediate learners for revision) in:
Upper Primary (Key Stage 2) - Year 4, 5, 6 (Y4 Y5 Y6)
Secondary (Key Stage 3) - especially Year 7 and 8 (Y7 / Y8)
Equivalents such as Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Core French in Canada
May suit others, depending on experience
The presentation suits learners who are new or fairly new to French but it also includes teaching points about female and plural forms of the colour adjectives, which you can use if appropriate, plus an introduction to the words for ‘light’ and ‘dark’ colours. With almost 50 slides, it also includes pronunciation tips, an interactive Kim’s game and a slide for a splat game, where children can ‘splat’ the colour that’s been said in French by the teacher. Students are also invited to show the teacher classroom objects of a particular colour so if they already know the name of some classroom objects this will help. Alternatively, they could learn some for this activity. An additional US spelling version of the presentation is included.
The Four in a Row game works well in either A3 or A4 and can be used with the colour word cards. Use different colour paper or card when printing the word cards so that opponents can play with a different colour set. Students put their cards in a pile, taking the top one and choosing strategically which space to place it on (as long the colour on the space matches the word on the card!). Or laminate the board and students mark on their initial with a dry-wipe marker if they correctly say the colour in French. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. There are also 8 cards for games of bingo and/or noughts and crosses (tic tac toe) and a 20-card ‘I Have…Who Has?’ game / Loop game. This latter resource features some light and dark versions of the colours.
The worksheet is included with and without a word bank for support. Full answer keys for the worksheet and puzzles. The printables are all in PDF format.

KS2 / KS3 Beginners French Vocabulary Basics Revision Games: 5 fun printable gameboards, with differentiation, for Snakes and Ladders (Serpents et Echelles). These activities were originally designed for French beginners and near beginners in Primary (Year 4, 5 and 6) and Year 7 and 8 and equivalents. They work well as a fun revision speaking task, perhaps at the start of term or end of term, or to use as early finisher activities. Any words not managed could perhaps be looked up online or in a French dictionary. If you are using them with a larger group you might want to print in A3. Answer and instruction cards are included in the PDF file.
My FSL / MFL French basics resources and units suit students beginning French, near beginners (and intermediate learners for revision) in:
Upper Primary (Key Stage 2) - Year 4, 5, 6 (Y4 Y5 Y6)

Boards 3 and 4 feature English words to be translated into French

Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths games for rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and estimating the sum or difference by rounding to ten. Fun, challenging and strategic, these 17 estimation and rounding games will make students think carefully about where to place digits in order to make each statement on the board correct. As children are allowed to place the digits they roll (or spin) in any row on their side of the board, they will begin to generate tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged until the final moments! 23 pages, PDF format.
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups: includes multiple games for each of rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, whole number, one decimal place, two decimal places, estimating the sum or difference and one for rounding to the nearest ten thousand
Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens
Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups.
Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any box on any row, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty!
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some
Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file)
Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)
Instructions are printed on the boards.

MORE INFO:
FOUR IN A ROW: 4 different boards. Boards 1 to 3 feature 18 items, while Board 4 contains an extended range of 36. Print and laminate. Works well in A3 but A4 is good too. Students roll dice, then choose a clothing word from that number column and say it in French. If correct, use a dry-wipe pen to mark that box (opponents could use a different colour).
BATTLESHIPS-STYLE GRID GAME: 6 sets of 2 identical cards. Laminate and use dry-wipe pens. Players take the same number card as their opponent, place a cross in 4 boxes to choose clothing and colour, and ask questions to discover the location of their opponent’s crosses. (As-tu une robe rouge? etc.). The first to correctly guess all 4 wins.
‘I HAVE…WHO HAS?’ GAME: Features 36 key words. 2 versions (one with an image on both sides to support lower ability or less experienced students). Print and laminate the cards, which form a continuous loop.
JIGSAW PUZZLE: Laminate for repeated use. Students match French clothing words with correct images.
VOCAB SUPPORT: 3 pages to support students playing the games, if required. Page 1 has a core range of vocabulary, Page 2 has an extended range and Page 3 has a table of French colours with adjectival agreement, for use with Battleships.
