Decimals Place Value Game Year 5 / 6

(1)
KS2 well-differentiated Four-in-a-Row Game Boards and cards for consolidation of decimal place value understanding and ordering decimal numbers (1, 2 and 3 decimal places). Ideal for starters, warm ups, early finishers activities etc. Originally designed for Key Stage 2 Y5 and Y6 - or Second Level, Primary 6 and 7 in Scotland. PDF format. Full instructions included. Please check the previews to see if it is suitable. SAVE by purchasing this as part of a BUNDLE: Place Value Activities BUNDLE KS2 Maths Games BUNDLE Decimals Activities BUNDLE DECIMAL NUMBERS FOUR IN A ROW: • Two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places) • Two A3 Four in a Row boards. The 1 star version was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. It works especially well in A3, however, you could scale down the board to A4 and use the smaller card set supplied. You could have pairs take on other pairs. Each team of two starts with a set of cards (print each set on different coloured card if you don’t have coloured printing that would allow you to print the different coloured cards supplied, then laminate to use again and again). It works well if each team shuffles their cards, puts them in a pile and takes one from the top at a time, which they then put down on the board if there’s a suitable empty box. They aim to get four of their cards in a row. Each box has a stipulation about the numbers that can be placed on it (no tenths, < 1.5, > 0.31, < 0.56, five hundredths etc). To save printing you could split a set between 2 or 3 boards as a single team won’t require all 54 cards. The cards can also be used separately from the game boards for ordering activities. Jumbled Sentences (Questions) KS1

This hands-on making sentences word ordering resource (questions version) is a full class set of 30 different reusable question building activity boards and also comes with an additional worksheet version of all boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (Y1) - or Primary 2 in Scotland -, these simple sentence construction SPaG / Grammar activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (Primary 1) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability. Emergent writers love lifting the words off to sort and unscramble them to find the hidden simple question. With an engaging picture clue and title on each, this word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resource suits a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the question out on the lines, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice of making question sentences should help children begin to form questions independently. This is a 67 page PDF document in a Zip file, together with an additional editable Word document of the word cards only. Each mixed-up question contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help identify the first word and to reinforce this key punctuation rule, and a question mark to place at the end. While constructing sentences, children learn about word order in questions and as it features a range of question starters (What?/When?/How?/Who?/Did? etc), it helps children begin to use a wider variety. Also available are 2 more sets of scrambled sentences boards (non-questions), one with 4-5 words per sentence and a more challenging one with 6-8 words. SAVE by purchasing all 3 in a bundle. Jumbled Sentences (4-5 words) Jumbled Sentences (6-8 words) Jumbled Sentences BUNDLE Colour print on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each session. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a smaller group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring support. Words are printed in faint grey on each sheet in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is coloured differently to help identify the board it is from. Train students to replace the words and to wipe boards before putting them back. Quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens help! A one-page ANSWER KEY is included. French Colours (Les Couleurs)

(0)
KS2 / KS3 Beginners French Language Colours / Colors vocabulary PowerPoint lesson presentation, printable games, activities, a worksheet, crossword and word search. Introduction and revision of 11 French colour (or color) words. The colours are introduced using the questions ‘C’est quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour itself) and ‘C’est de quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour of objects / animals etc).   My FSL / MFL French basics resources and units suit students beginning French, near beginners (and intermediate learners for revision) in: Upper Primary (Key Stage 2) - Year 4, 5, 6 (Y4 Y5 Y6) Secondary (Key Stage 3) - especially Year 7 and 8 (Y7 / Y8) Equivalents such as Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Core French in Canada May suit others, depending on experience   The presentation suits learners who are new or fairly new to French but it also includes teaching points about female and plural forms of the colour adjectives, which you can use if appropriate, plus an introduction to the words for ‘light’ and ‘dark’ colours. With almost 50 slides, it also includes pronunciation tips, an interactive Kim’s game and a slide for a splat game, where children can ‘splat’ the colour that’s been said in French by the teacher. Students are also invited to show the teacher classroom objects of a particular colour so if they already know the name of some classroom objects this will help. Alternatively, they could learn some for this activity. An additional US spelling version of the presentation is included. The Four in a Row game works well in either A3 or A4 and can be used with the colour word cards. Use different colour paper or card when printing the word cards so that opponents can play with a different colour set. Students put their cards in a pile, taking the top one and choosing strategically which space to place it on (as long the colour on the space matches the word on the card!). Or laminate the board and students mark on their initial with a dry-wipe marker if they correctly say the colour in French. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. There are also 8 cards for games of bingo and/or noughts and crosses (tic tac toe) and a 20-card ‘I Have…Who Has?’ game / Loop game. This latter resource features some light and dark versions of the colours. The worksheet is included with and without a word bank for support. Full answer keys for the worksheet and puzzles. Fractions of Amounts Games BUNDLE

2 Resources
A bundle of Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) activities for finding Fractions of Quantities: differentiated Four in a Row Games and Active Card Game. Also known as Fractions of a Set / of a Group / of Whole Numbers etc. Originally made for Year 5 and Year 6. Great for lesson starters, early finishers tasks and revision. Includes: 6 Four-in-a-Row Games (3 levels, 2 of each) 54 Card Printable Team Treasure Hunt (Differentiated) Answer keys included. Please check the individual resource pages and previews to see if the calculations provide an appropriate range of challenge for your students. These activities were made for revision and consolidation in Year 5 and 6 but might suit other years too. You can also purchase these 2 resources as part of my bigger Fractions Activities BUNDLE, along with Hidden Word Puzzles Worksheets for a variety of Fractions concepts. If you prefer, you can also purchase the Fractions Puzzles Worksheets as part of my Fractions, Decimals and Percentages BUNDLE MORE INFORMATION - FOUR IN A ROW: Print and laminate the Four in a Row boards for regular use. The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers. Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). Students write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. MORE INFORMATION - TREASURE HUNT: This can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of fractions calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included. Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back. Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! Key Stage 2 Year 5 and Year 6 Fractions Games and Puzzles: Printable, differentiated Maths Four in a Row Games, Puzzles Worksheets and an Active Card Game to help plan fun lesson starters, main tasks and / or early finishers activities in fractions lessons at Upper Key Stage 2 - especially Y5 and Y6 - (and some early KS3). CONTENTS: 6 Fractions Puzzles Worksheets (Equivalent Fractions, Simplifying, Fractions of Quantities / Amounts, Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions) 6 Differentiated Four in a Row Games for Fractions of Amounts 54-Card Active Game / Treasure Hunt for Fractions of Amounts If just focusing on Fractions of Amounts, you may wish to purchase the latter two resource packs in my Fractions of Amounts Games BUNDLE. If you prefer, you can also purchase the Fractions Puzzles Worksheets as part of my Fractions, Decimals and Percentages BUNDLE FRACTIONS ACTIVITIES BUNDLE - MORE INFORMATION: Answer keys included. Please check the individual resource pages and previews to see if these provide an appropriate range of challenge for your students. PUZZLES WORKSHEETS An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs or groups. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a maths-related word is revealed after completing the work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a fraction / calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing incorrect answers or errors such as non-equivalent fractions (depending on which puzzle it is). Then they assemble letters from the circled boxes to reveal a maths word. There’s a further question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the word. Students often forget or avoid checking their work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. FOUR IN A ROW Print and laminate the boards for regular use. It was designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one-star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. These would best suit Upper Key Stage 2 / KS2, early KS3 and other equivalents. The Hidden Word Puzzle includes 15 statements about St Dwynwen and St Dwynwen’s Day, which is the equivalent of St Valentine’s Day in Wales. Pupils must work out which ones are incorrect and then, using the grid at the bottom, rearrange the letters linked to the incorrect statements to find a word related to the subject of the puzzle. This is a very flexible resource, which works especially well to focus pupils’ own online research. All statements can be checked by looking through the first few websites that come up in internet searches. Children will practise reading comprehension skills and skimming and scanning strategies. They will also practise their digital literacy skills as they check facts, evaluating the reliability of websites used, ensuring they check more than one website etc. The solution to the puzzle, identifying and correcting the relevant statements, is included on a separate page. As versions of Dwynwen’s story can vary, the puzzles focus on details agreed on by several key websites. The crossword could be used with the same pupils as although there is some overlap between the two puzzles in the information covered, there are also details in each which do not appear in the other. No preparation is required, other than simply printing and copying. Two previews are provided, with a 4-page PDF document - containing the puzzles and their solutions - in the zip file. I hope your students enjoy using these puzzles. I would be grateful for a review if you get a spare moment. Thank you for your interest in my resources. Multiplying 3 Numbers

(0)
This active, printable KS2 Mental Maths starter activity for multiplication of three factors is a treasure hunt / scavenger hunt or relay type game, to be played in teams, with differentiation built in. It’s ideal as a whole class warm up or plenary at Year 4, Year 5 and 6, perhaps when focusing on multiplication, especially the associative property / law of multiplication. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of three single digit numbers multiplication calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions for teacher and pupils is included, along with solutions. I have a collection of these Grab the Answers games, each one focusing on a different maths concept. You can explore the bundle below. One possible answer for each of the target challenges is printed on the solution cards. Please visit my store for many fun, time-saving maths activities: FullShelf Resources

Rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and rounding to the nearest pound. These PDF format Maths / Numeracy activities are ideal for early finishers, starters / warm ups, and homework too. Use for revision and consolidation, as part of a place value unit, or for meaningful fun at other times. An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these Hidden Word puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. All solutions provided. If you wish, laminate for repeated use and write on them with whiteboard pens. In Scotland, it's ideal for Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7. Contains 7 and their solutions: rounding 2-digit numbers to the nearest ten, 3-digit numbers to the nearest hundred, 4-digit numbers to the nearest thousand and various size decimal numbers to the nearest whole number, 1 decimal place and 2 decimal places. Puzzle 7 comes in two versions - rounding to the nearest pound / rounding to the nearest dollar. These puzzles are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after the rounding work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a number to be rounded and a letter. Once students have rounded all the numbers, they cross out any boxes containing numbers that round to certain specified target numbers (whether it is to the nearest 10, 1 decimal place etc). Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. If the word is more simple, the letters are in random order for students to reassemble. If it is a trickier word (such as a famous mathematician), the letters are already placed in the correct order in the grid. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word. The range of puzzles in this resource is ideal for differentiation and revision and / or to cater for a range of groups and classes. Negative Numbers

(3)
Activities (a game, puzzles worksheets and word problem cards) for differentiated negative numbers lessons at Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2). It was originally designed for Year 5 and Year 6 (Y5 / Y6) and equivalents but could work for able Year 4 too. Includes 3 fun Hidden Word / Spot the Mistake Puzzles (and solutions), a 30-card Loop Game / Dominoes Set and 16 Word Problems Cards (8 multi-step and 8 more simple). PDF format. In Scotland, use for Primary 6 and 7 (and able Primary 5). PUZZLES An engaging alternative to worksheets, these Numeracy puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities. There’s one on increasing and decreasing temperature (Celsius), one for simple subtraction calculations with mostly negative number answers and a more challenging puzzle featuring addition and subtraction of negative and positive integers. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a maths-related word is revealed after completing calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Students circle boxes containing errors. Then they assemble the letters from the circled boxes to reveal a maths word. There’s a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the word. Pupils often forget or avoid checking their work so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work. LOOP CARDS / DOMINOES Fun group / whole class activity to consolidate adding and subtracting negative numbers, using phrases (‘reduce by’, ‘increase’, ‘difference between’ etc). Forms a continuous loop. WORD PROBLEM CARDS 8 Multi-Step Word Problem Cards and 8 more simple. Solutions can be printed back to back with question side for student self-checking or can be printed and made into separate cards if required. Consolidates understanding of negative numbers in the contexts of temperature (degrees Celsius), money / bank accounts and points in a sporting league. Work well as early finisher challenges. Key Stage 1 (KS1) Year 1 and Year 2 (Y1 / Y2) add and subtract 9 and 11 (and 10) printable mental maths activities. Use in Maths / Numeracy lessons for independent work, starters, warm ups, early finishers tasks, revision etc. There are 36 self-check write and wipe trail cards to be laminated for pupils to complete with wipeable pens. Ideal for fun consolidation once you have taught the related strategies of adding 10, then adding 1 / adding 10, then subtracting 1 etc. Will suit some Year 3 (Y3) and older learners in KS2 for consolidation. In Scotland, use for First Level Maths, Primary 2 and 3, or Primary 4 and above needing consolidation.   WRITE AND WIPE TRAILS Each card contains 14 mental maths calculations - over 500 calculations across the whole set. ALL ANSWERS INCLUDED. Differentiation: The first 18 cards involve 2 digit numbers, while more able or older pupils could use cards 19-36, which involve 3-digit numbers (and bridging through hundreds in some). For further differentiation, allow number lines / number squares where appropriate. They can be used by individuals or you could have pairs or small groups racing against each other to complete trails accurately. It promotes speed and accuracy and is a more engaging alternative to worksheets. Starting at the bee and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total. The final answer is printed next to the flower in the middle of the card so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check to see where they have gone wrong. Answer cards can be used by the pupils themselves or by the teacher to see at a glance where pupils have gone wrong. Print and laminate if required. I hope your pupils enjoy using these. If you can leave me a review I would be very grateful.   I have other versions of this resource, to practise different aspects of adding and subtracting.
