This fantastic pack of science activities is ideal for supporting teaching of the Year 3 Rocks unit in the New National Curriculum 2014. Included are seven activities: -Describe it! Students identify the rocks in the photographs and describe their appearance and texture. -Sort it! Print, laminate and cut up the cards. Students match the rocks (a) to their properties (b) and uses (c). Alternate Uk spelling option included. -Match it! Students sort the images into those that are electrical conductors and those that are electrical insulators -Use it! Students look at the photographs (slate roof tiles, marble archway, granite kitchen surface and writing chalk). They write about why the properties of each particular rock suit the purpose it is being used for in the photograph. -Investigate it! Students plan and carry out an investigation to test rock permeability. -Observe it! Students carry out a simple experiment to separate the materials in clay, loamy and sandy soil. They draw diagrams of their findings. Included are detailed, clear instructions on how to set up the activities. Also included is a KWL (what I know already, what I would like to know and what I learnt) for student to complete prior to and after the unit. Please note: Some of the activities require additional resources. These include samples of different rock types (i.e. chalk, limestone, sandstone, marble, granite and slate), magnifying lenses, clear containers for soil experiment and pipettes. Both UK and US spelling versions of resources are included.

This fantastic 72 page guided reading pack is fully aligned to the New UK National Curriculum 2014 for Key Stage 2 fiction reading. These engaging resources and activities will save you plenty of time when it comes to preparing guided reading activities! Included are reading activity sheets, focusing on character, setting, plot and language, which can be used as part of guided reading, whole class session or independent work. They can be used with any fiction story. There are also 48 reading question cards which can be used alongside any fiction story in guided reading sessions or during independent reading. Also included is a guided reading recording sheet on which you can record your pupils’ responses during guided reading sessions. I have included an example of how I use them in class. I have also included bright, colourful covers for each of your guided reading groups to record their names on for use in your guided reading folder.

These cracking Christmas themed Maths activities are perfect for Years 5 and 6 during the month of December. Included are seven fabulous Christmas maths activities; Christmas Coordinates Students record the coordinates of each item on the four quadrant grid. Included in both colour or black and white. Festive Word Problems Students solve the six division and multiplication festive problems and record their answers on the response sheet. There is also a set of cards with spaces to fill in the numbers so you can tailor the questions to your class. Less Than or Greater Than Print and laminate the less than or greater than cards. Students use a dry eraser pen to mark either the greater or less than symbol in the space between the two decimal numbers. This activity is available in three different ability sets of cards; Blue Set - just hundredths, Red Set - tenths and hundredths mixed and Green Set - hundredths and thousandths mixed. Lowest Terms Students shade in the picture of the elf according to the key by converting the fraction in each section to its lowest terms. This set of counting task cards is fully aligned to the Year 2 National Curriculum 2014 Maths objective: Pupils should be taught to: -count in steps of 2, 3, and 5 from 0, and in tens from any number, forward and backward Included are 48 task cards, three to a page, complete with answer grids. There are 12 cards for each counting step; 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s. Pupils will count on in multiples of the particular number, filling in the missing numbers. When counting in tens, pupils will count on and back in tens from any 2-digit number. Cards 1-12 counting on across multiples of 2 Cards 13-24 counting on across multiples of 3 Cards 25-36 counting on across multiples of 5 Cards 37-48 skip counting on and back in jumps of 10 Simply print, laminate and cut up the task cards. Pupils may write their answers using a whiteboard pen directly onto laminated cards or they can record their answers on the response sheet.
