GCSE AQA Biology - Penicillin, Digitalis, Aspirin discoveries ppt and 3 w/sheets

(2)
This power point contains the key information about the discovery and uses of penicillin, digitalis and aspirin. The worksheets attached can be used alongside the power point and are good for low ability / SEN students. The power point cards can be printed out and given to more able students to make a sheet about these 3 medicines, or can just be used for revision, starters or plenary activities. Helpful with the new (as yet still a working progress) New Yr 9 spec for AQA. Hope you like them and find them useful, if so please leave feedback.
GCSE Biology - Endangered species (SEN / Foundation)

GCSE Biology - Endangered species (SEN / Foundation)

(0)
A map and information about endangered species. Students have to make a poster showing all the endangered animals on the map. I had to bring up a map of the world whilst doing this activity as many are unaware where most places are. My SEN group worked really well in groups, discussing, working as a team, and producing a nice resource which can be put up showing students work, and also they get to understand about endangered species. I then set them a homework to chose one animal and tell me why it is endangered. Keywords can be put on the board to help.

A2 Biology - Gene Technology

(7)
This is a 30 slide power point presentation covering every aspect of Gene Technology for A2 Biology (OCR or AQA specifications). This is extensive, contains easy to follow notes and diagrams. Will cover at number of A2 lessons and will help with continuity of learning. It covers the following Reverse transcriptase, Restriction endonucleases, in vivo and in vitro techniques, In vivo - vectors, plasmids, transformation and identification using antibiotic resistance markers. In vitro - PCR, primers, DNA polymerase, locating genes using DNA probes, DNA sequencing , Gel Electrophoresis, Restriction Mapping. It then features DNA probes used in medicine, advantages and disadvantages of in vivo and in vitro techniques, uses of gene technology. Gene technology - genetic counselling, gene therapy and genetic fingerprinting. (Cystic Fibrosis) Finishes with advantages and disadvantages and ethical issues. Thank you for taking the time to look at my resource and I hope you find it beneficial. Please feel free to leave feedback and to 'follow me' so as not to miss out on future helpful resources.

New AQA AS Biology - Meiosis & Genetic Variation

(2)
This resource contains 3 ppts (tried to upload as one but system could not cope?) - all in all 29 slides covering the new AQA syllabus. The ppts follow on from each other. They start with gametes, zygotes, ovum, sperm, fertilisation, homologous chromosomes, haploid and diploid numbers. Second ppt covers meiosis (stages, key terms, chiasmata, bivalents, crossing over, independent segregation, first and second division, etc. It finishes with different life cycles with diploid and haploid numbers. Third part ppt covers chromosome mutation (substitution & deletions). Hope you like my resource, pls leave feedback if you do.
