An overview of how SMSC is embedded within the science curriculum throughout KS3 - KS5.

Booklet can be used as a progress tracker for each student or can be broken down as needed. Follows Exploring Science 7. Booklet contains a tracker for all unit test information to be put onto. It then contains self assessment sheets for before and after each topic - descriptions of skills grouped into develop, secure and exceeding. A reflection sheet for each topic is also included for pupils to evaluate their learning.

KS3 science literacy assessments Follows exploring science 7- 9 - broken up per these topics. Introduction and question at the top, a space for notes, a space for organisation of thoughts and a space to write final answers. Used as an assessment tool science wide for consistency thought out the department.

Pupils use different products (household / foods) to test universal indicator. This is a follow up lesson to being introduced to indicators. They will use their knowledge of universal indicator, pH scale and acids and alkalis to complete a table about different products pH. There are two tables attached, ones with headings and one without - simple differentiation to get higher ability pupils to come up with their own headings after given instructions. This was used with a mixed abiilty year 7 group

Homework including pictures and what the scientist did. Pupils have to research the different scientists and match complete a match up. Engaging pupils in scientists of the past, what they did and improving research skills.

Used during deadtime/plenaries to get ideas of what pupils have understood

An A3 spread on the topic of elements, compounds and mixtures. Boxes to be filled in with pictures and equations to complete. Great to use as a revision sheet at the end of a topic.
