Specific questions have been picked out from the book for pupils to attempt in lessons/ own time. I have also used mini tests, exampro questions and worksheets (not included) to check understanding as we went through. Will probably need adapting for your pupils needs and additional resources/questions/ homeworks for pupils culminated.

This is the ninth lesson taught in the new BTEC series for the specification points ; • Understand the quantities used in chemical reactions: o mass, volume of solution, concentration o reacting quantities o percentage yields. This lesson starts by discussing molarity, concentration and the equation needed to calculate between them. Examples are provided, then pupils have a go at some questions themselves. Reacitng quantities is then discussed, again with examples, questions for the pupils to have a go at. Finally percentage yields is dicussed and practiced. This is the eighth lesson taught in the new BTEC series for the specification points ; • Understand the following; o moles, molar masses and molarities. This lesson starts by discussing moles, and what they mean in terms of atoms. Pupils are provided with some examples of converting between mass and moles, they then practice this with some quesitons either on their own or in pairs. Empirical formula is then discussed, again with examples of how to calculate this for different amounts of substances. More practice questions are provided. The conversion between molecular formula and empirical formula is then discussed, examples provided and practice given. A powerpoint used with my current year 13’s on the option unit ‘Turning points’. Includes all the information pupils need - including practice questions, videos etc. It has been broken down into the three sections of the topic - The discovery of the electron Wave particle duality Special Relativity It is in a similar order to the students workbook so pupils can follow along/ prepare or revisit lessons. After each section of the topic we spent some time answer past exam questions on the knowledge the pupils had learnt (can be found on the AQA website) At the end of the whole topic I gave them a whole past paper.
