This is a game which I created. The rules are simple and its easy to play. The aim of the game is to get from the start to finish. Seems obvious right? Problem chains are a great way to know if your students have fully understood the concept of what has been taught. During Grade 3 your students should have a good understanding of how follow on questions work. Problem chains are an excellent way to test their knowledge and comprehension. What are problem chains? Problem chains are where you have one fact and multiple questions stem from it. In this case they are math related. Each statement has 4 questions and each question is linked to the one previously. How many questions are there? There are 5 sheets with 4 linking questions on each one. To answer these correctly students must be able to; Understand the concept of rounding to the nearest 10 Be able to add 2 and 3 digits Have the vocabulary to be able to explain answers in words Express a good understanding of problem solving skills What Grade is this resource developed for? This resource has been developed for Grade 3. However, this resource can be used for Grade 4 along with intervention classes. Multiplication and division. The golden rule is they go hand in hand. If you can multiply then you can divide. They are in a sense the best of friends. Every page has a selected number and then on the left side of the page is the multiplication and on the right its the division. What grades is this resource developed for? This multiplication and division pack has been created for grade 2 upwards. Can this multiplication and division resource be used for supply? It certainly can! Simply print one copy of each and add it to your supply file. It can then be used along side a planned lesson or as a singular resource. What is this resource useful for? This multiplication and division pack can be implemented into many of your math lessons. The trick to mastering them is also the way to develop your kiddos vocabulary. Place value task cards have multiple uses. Teachers need easy yet effective ways to meet the needs of all students of all different abilities. These place value task cards focus around the 2.NBT.1 CCSS. What is 2.NBT.1? 2.NBT.1 forms part of the CCSS (Common Core State Standard). It was created as an effort led by state to improve the educational outcome of students in Math and English/Language Arts (ELA). What’s included with these place value task cards? 84 task cards with answer key cards. The top left hand corner is numbered with the answer cards matching. The bottom left hand corner has ‘2.NBT.1’. This makes it easier to not mix the task card up. Print and laminate to add durability. Place value task cards 1 to 12 – What number can you make with the following numbers? 13 to 24 – What number do these number blocks make? 25 to 36 – Write these numbers in words. 37 to 48 – Which of these two numbers is the largest number? 49 to 60 – Which of these two numbers is the largest number? 61 to 72 – This number has been written in words. This fraction game is all about getting your alien from the start box to the end box will be challenging. You will face set backs, challenging additions (there is often more than one correct answer), you could be forced to miss a turn and land on spaces which send you back a space or three. There is always the chance you will land on an occupied space and be forced to take a challenge card. This game is not for the faint hearted! Do you dare to take on the challenge? Can you get to the end of the game? This game is suitable from grades 4 to 6. Though those who are more able in grade 3 would find this fun and challenging and this fraction space game makes for an ideal intervention game for higher graders. Whats included and the prep work needed Space Fractions game – Print and laminate for durability. Space Fraction Rules Poster – Print and laminate. Your students can self access. Placing it near your math station or where the game will most likely played. Fraction card – There are 8 fraction cards which you will need to print and cut out. Fraction card covers – You have two options. Option 1 – Black and white or option 2 – Green background with blue writing. There are 8 of each. **Tip – You can print the black and white ones on color paper/card to change the background. ** Once the fraction cards and covers have been printed and cut out, laminate back to back. Human Impact on Ecosystems: Students will learn about the ways in which human activity can impact ecosystems, both positively and negatively. They will investigate issues such as pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change. Conservation and Restoration of Ecosystems: Students will learn about the importance of preserving ecosystems and the various strategies that can be used to restore damaged ecosystems. Throughout the unit study, students will engage in a variety of activities and experiments that will reinforce their learning and deepen their understanding of ecosystems. These activities include: Creating their own mini-ecosystems and observing the interactions between living and nonliving things Investigating the energy flow in a food web using a simulation game Conducting research on a particular biome and creating a multimedia presentation to share their findings Analyzing data on the impact of human activity on ecosystems and proposing solutions to address these issues Participating in a service learning project to help restore a damaged ecosystem in their community By the end of this unit study, your students will have a deep understanding of ecosystems and the interconnectedness of living and nonliving things within them.
