SPANISH IR VERBS PERFECT TENSE

GCSE SPANISH KS3 SPANISH KS4 SPANISH PERFECT TENSE IR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish IR verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for KS3 Spanish students who are beginning to work with more complex language, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in Spanish. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. Though the workbooks focus on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, I still find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Language learners often conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students with***English*** as a first language sometimes confuse the use of tener instead of haber as the auxiliary. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verb haber in the present tense to ensure that they can form the perfect tense accurately. There are certain differences in usage in the perfect tense in Spanish and English, which we also talk about quite a lot when we’re using the workbooks. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt. Notes and Next Steps template to encourage my students to reflect on their progress, and think about what they can reasonably and realistically do to meet learning targets and progress in their learning answer key Have a browse in my store for more Spanish grammar activities, and a wide range of Spanish language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too. ENGLISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS VERBS BOOK #2

ENGLISCH ALS FREMDSPRACHE ENGLISCH ALS ZWEITSPRACHE ESL EFL ENGLISH VERBS 500 high-frequency English verbs reference book, alphabetically English-German for German-speaking learners of English - a great learning support resource for intermediate English moving into advanced English students, as a verb vocabulary audit and refresher. It’s also really useful for advanced beginner English students, providing them with a language road map with learning goals, outlining the verbs they should ideally know by a specific stage in their learning. We use this as a year-round reference resource, and my students find it particularly useful for exam revision, whether working in class time or at home. We use the Notes and Next Steps template to think about progress and vocabulary knowledge. Students find this really useful, and do like to map and track their own progress. It can be helpful in guiding and informing whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really useful learning activity too - students also note down any new English verbs they learn, enabling them to build a really comprehensive verb vocabulary reference resource. The verbs are useful for engaging with the following topics and themes: youth, identity & lifestyle : fashion : culture, customs and traditions relationships and family : technology and social media : sport, health and fitness free time, hobbies and interests : entertainment and leisure : food and drink : local, national & international global areas of interest : transport : holidays, tourism and travel : environment, pollution, recycling and climate : social issues : school, college, current and future study : work experience, skills and personal qualities : employment, ambitions and career plans The reference book has 22 pages - I’ve found the most learner-friendly format is to photocopy double-sided, with two staples down the left-hand side. I also have two additional formats - a 42-page reference book English-German & German-English (£3.00), and a 22-page reference book, German-English only (£2.99). GCSE ITALIAN KS4 ITALIAN KS3 ITALIAN -IRE VERBS IMPERFECT TENSE My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for advanced KS3 Italian and KS4 Italian students who are beginning to work with more complex texts, including a range of tenses. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written Italian is accurate, and that their understanding of Italian across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and English-Italian. GEOGRAPHY NORTH & SOUTH AMERICA COUNTRY CARDS

(0)
WORLD CONTINENTS NORTH & SOUTH AMERICA COUNTRY CARDS North & South America countries, capital cities and flags games cards provide great learning opportunities for any appropriate age group, at any time of the school year. Students can develop their knowledge of the geography of both continents in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 23 flag cards showing North America, with matching country and capital city cards, and 14 flag cards showing South America, also with matching country and capital city cards. Students often get confused about Central America, so I make sure they’re aware that it isn’t a continent, but it is definitely a specific region, and there are 7 flag cards showing Central America, with matching country and capital city cards. Additionally, there are four picture info cards showing each continent, both within the context of a world map, and as a standalone continent map. There are matching text cards for these too. There are also detachable continent, country, capitals and combined country & capital labels that students use to label the flags. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the games help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of North, South and Central America. There is a continent, country, capital city and flag reference list of all countries and capitals of North and South America, which students find useful to read through before playing - allow them only 60 seconds on a timer to really focus their reading and increase the sense of competition if you are playing competitive team games! It can also be used as a year-round reference resource, which students can file in their workbooks or learning folders. Laminate the cards, labels and reference sheets if you can - it’s definitely a lot of prep, but it ensures a real long-term resource - you will be able to use it for years to come. Revisit regularly for successful learning - can students beat their own time record? The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. GCSE FRENCH KS3 PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUS ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY REGULAR & IRREGULAR FRENCH VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with full answer key. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for advanced beginner French students who are getting to grips with conjugation in French, and building their verb vocabulary. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I’ve found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. SPANISH VERBS DOMINOES #1

GCSE SPANISH DOMINOES GAMES High-frequency Spanish verbs dominoes games: 3 games and challenges are a lively alternative to more traditional grammar & vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. They will help students build up and embed their vocabulary and knowledge of high-frequency Spanish verbs in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 99 common Spanish verbs in the infinitive form, along with the corresponding English verbs. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino bilingual verb sequence, on the classroom floor, or on a long(ish) table, by matching the Spanish and English verbs. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading, and also helps students identify cognates and words that may look similar to English, but mean something different. There are three games, each with a different level of challenge: Challenge One features the verbs in alphabetical order, Spanish to English Challenge Two features the verbs in random order, also Spanish to English Challenge Three again features the verbs in random order, but this time from English to Spanish, which works a little different in terms of vocab recall There’s a full alphabetical Spanish-English verb list, which students find really useful as they begin to build and embed their verb vocabulary - we find it useful to have a quick look through the list prior to playing for the first time, and it’s also really good for some additional whole-group pronunciation practice. Each challenge is on a different background, so that they can be easily identified. To ensure successful learning, play regularly as you work with verbs and vocabulary - against a timer in teams works well to map both improved recall and word recognition, as well as increasing confidence - students genuinely enjoy seeing if they can beat their own time record. Dominoes games work really well in language learning as a free-choice activity - I have folders of resources for students to select their own activity, according to what they feel they would most like to revisit. We have free-choice activity time every few lessons for a half hour or so, which also provides a welcome break from the particular target focus. There’s definitely prep involved - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and they last for absolutely years, so once you’re prepped the set or several sets, you will never have to prep the games again. PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-10 WORD SEARCHES

(0)
PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-10 word searches - ideal for primary maths activities and independent learning. Word searches a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practising and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. The set features five differentiated word searches, focusing on high-frequency words : Numbers 0-10, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - consolidating not only new words and vocabulary (numbers), but also working on reading, writing, spelling and literacy skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. For additional consolidation, they also rewrite each number in the word column. There are also two question and answer key grid templates for learners to create their own searches for each other — this is a really popular activity, and I’ve found that my learners often like to create grids for family at home too. The templates enable learners to apply their language practically and creatively, which is really important at this stage of literacy development. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! The word searches are in landscape format, mirroring the common direction of reading and writing from left to right, facilitating learner engagement with the activity. The landscape format is also really useful for learners whose first language is written from right to left. There is a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet - I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners - and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. Have a look at this Primary Maths Numbers 0-10 word search freebie - it’s the same format as these word searches, and you can see if they will suit your learners: PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-10 WORD SEARCH FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-maths-numbers-0-10-word-search-freebie-12660335 Please note this is the Primary Maths edition of my ESL / EFL Numbers 0-10 word searches. GERMAN VERBS I HAVE WHO HAS

(0)
KS3 GERMAN GCSE VERBS ACTIVITIES German Common Verbs Ich habe… Wer hat… ? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, ideal for practising, reinforcing and consolidating 99 high-frequency German verbs. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. Active learning is a really successful way of developing both language skills and general confidence. The verbs are in the infinitive form, and the aim of the game is to create a German verb chain as quickly as possible. There are two games, each with a slightly different challenge: Challenge 1: verbs are in alphabetical order, with the question and answer format: Ich habe… Wer hat… ? Challenge 2: verbs are in random order, with the question and answer format: Hast du… Ja/Nein, ich habe… In both challenges, the English translation of the verb appears immediately below the German verbs, which maximizes opportunity for really embedding vocab. The game works just as well if the cards are placed on a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my KS3 German learners, who are ready to move into KS4 German, but I’ve also played the game with my more advanced learners, who really enjoy ’going back to the start’ and having the opportunity to get up, walk about and talk - the games definitely provide some essential variety in learning activities. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. I always do some high-speed verb quiz oral warm-up and warm-down activities to really get the most out of the game, for example Wie sagt man SEIN auf Deutsch? or Richtig oder falsch - SEIN heißt TO BE auf Englisch? There is an alphabetical German-English verb list, featuring all the verbs used in the game. This is useful as a longer-term reference resource too. The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. ITALIAN ERE VERBS PERFECT TENSE

GCSE ITALIAN PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE (passasto prossimo) great introduction to, and consolidation of, conjugating Italian verbs. They work well in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. There are 25 high-frequency regular and irregular -ERE verbs in the perfect tense (passato prossimo). The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage - students find that when they can immediately recall and produce the correct conjugation of a given verb, particularly out of context, they are really getting to grips with conjugation. The structure of the resource is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and Italian-English Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugation questions, so 150 conjugation questions in total Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Italian, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Italian verb conjugation, and its infinitive form, from an English prompt. 6-page answer key, which is an integral element of the resource - it gives students an additional opportunity to engage with the language and grammar, and really helps them develop more independence in their learning. Notes and Next Steps template, which I encourage my students to visit regularly, reflecting not only on the verbs and conjugations they feel confident about, but also how they think their general skills in Italian might be developing through the activity - and equally importantly, what they can reasonably do to keep improving. GERMAN PHONICS PRONUNCIATION SPELLING #1

KS3 KS4 GERMAN RHYMING WORDS CARDS PHONICS PRONUNCIATION SPELLING PRACTICE - 99 WORDS FOCUSING ON PHONICS, SOUNDS AND RHYMES - CARDS AND WHOLE-GROUP PRONUNCIATION PRACTICE There are 99 cards featuring a range of sounds in German, and a whole-group presentation and practice resource. We revisit the activities frequently to help students develop *phonic awareness *and a thorough understanding of how German spelling and sounds work. I’ve found that students are quickly able to recognize sound patterns, enabling them to predict the pronunciation of new words accurately. The whole-group presentations are non-editable for copyright reasons, but move forward via a click as a slide show, with all the rhymes and corresponding sounds grouped together - I often use these at the beginning of the lesson, or a 5-minute pronunciation and speaking break during a lesson, again at very regular intervals. I always encourage students to look carefully at all parts of a particular word, not just the focus sound: for example erreicht - the focus sound is ei, but the ch sound is equally important. The resource works well for my German students at all stages of learning, from beginner to advanced. We use the card template for students to add corresponding sounds / rhymes that they know, or learn, over time. I allocate 10-15 minutes frequently to focus on pronunciation and sounds - this really does help students develop authentic *German *pronunciation. Laminate the cards if possible - they are far more learner-friendly, and will remain in excellent condition for years. I’ve included a set without a background, as that is not as expensive to prep as the colour - I do create colour-coded sets for my students when I can, as it helps them to identify different resources, but they are fine without color too. GERMAN PLUPERFECT TENSE WITH SEIN

GERMAN CONJUGATION TAKING THE AUXILIARY SEIN IN THE PLUPERFECT TENSE conjugation drills focusing on regular and irregular German verbs taking sein in the pluperfect tense - 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, 150 quick conjugations and complete answer key. The workbook focuses on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I’ve found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their German conjugation skills are developing well. I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the pluperfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the imperfect tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, so the focus on the auxiliary sein with this workbook helps to embed this concept, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. The structure is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Quick Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Quick Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Quick Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. Students also note down any new verbs they discover, which enables them to build up a really sound verb vocabulary bank. answer key Try this free sampler to see if it’s the kind of learning activity that will work well for your students: **GERMAN QUICK CONJUGATION SAMPLER ** https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-conjugation-practice-sampler-12154187 Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, and a wide range of German teaching and learning resources, with lots of freebies too! I’ve used these ‘quick conjugations’ for many years with my German students. My students find them to be a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practise the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how German conjugation ‘works’. I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the German perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence, ensuring that the reflexive pronouns are located correctly. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully. The workbook is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes & Next Steps template, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key Files are non-editable files in a zipped format. FRENCH ER VERBS CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE

ALEVEL FRENCH CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency French ER verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for A Level French students who are moving on with conjugation in French, beginning to work with more complex language and texts, and developing their knowledge and understanding of tense and mood in French. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, students with English as a first language do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in both languages, and we frequently see students looking for a direct equivalent of would, similar to when they first meet the conditional tense, or using***avoir*** instead of être for verbs which require être as the auxiliary. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verbs être and avoir in the conditional tense to ensure that they can form the conditional perfect tense accurately. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key Try this free sampler to see if it’s the kind of learning activity that will work well for your students: FRENCH VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-verbs-conjugation-practice-sampler-12307809 The product is non-editable in a zipped format.
