Pupils use chromebooks/a computer/ipads to research an endangered sea creature. They then create a Google Slides about the creature, or you could get them to create a leaflet/poster instead. Works well as a cover lesson.

In the resource, pupils design their own theme park! Task 1 - designing a map Task 2 - creating a persuasive leaflet Task 3 - Oracy - creating a TV advert The project usually takes around 9 lessons to complete. For Task 3, you can get digitial literacy involved by having pupils create a Powerpoint and do voiceovers of their script. It works well as an end of term ‘bolt-on’ unit. In this resource, pupils read through the poem ‘Daylight Robbery’ by Paul Henry and ‘Student House’ by Peter Finch. (Copies of the poems can be found in the book ‘Library of Wales: Poetry 1900-2000’, edited by Meic Stephens) Pupils then answer questions, and write an analysis and comparison of the poems using the sentence starters. Perfect for a Year 9 group that aren’t keen on performing! At the end of the unit, pupils can either present their ideas or perform their devised piece. In this series of 6 lessons, pupils are given the stimulus that ‘Ryan Evans has just hit his Science teacher with a chair.’ Pupils then create a devised piece based on this using the carefully planned lessons and resources to guide them through it. This PowerPoint is a series of 2 lessons that helps students write a formal letter to their new English teacher.
