Two powerpoints to help improve students’ vocabulary and give them a reading strategy to use when approaching new words. These powerpoints could be used for 24 different lessons as you copy over the different rootwords from Powerpoint 1 to adapt Powerpoint 2. Then each slide in Powerpoint 1 could be set as homework or as a starter task in main English lessons, or as a form activity.
Powerpoint 1. Rootwords wordsearch. Each slide contains 10 words that share a rootword along with a wordsearch and the meaning of that root word. There are 24 slides, each with a different root word going from A to V.
Powerpoint 2. A lesson that can be used over and over each week if you replace the rootwords. For example, I have set it up with Auto and the following week you might use Bene instead. There are 6 different activities, notes about tasks and the logic behind it.
An English marking checklist for reading that can be used to help with creating LOs, peer and self assessment and to cut down marking time. Geared towards AQA’s Assessment objectives. Have students stick this in the front of their books and then use the codes for quick feedback.
