Ionizing radiation usually comes in three particular flavours: Alpha, Beta and Gamma radiation. Each of these have their own properties and wonderful uses as well as dangers. This is a great arena of physics learning and ties in to learning about non-ionizing radiation (EM spectrum too!)

This is a project based Interdisciplinary unit planner that looks at Science and Design with regards to electricity and lightning as topics of interest.
This unit plan offers more than a dozen proposed STEM tasks that are aligned to different criteria (ABCD) and give students both choice and breadth of learning.
Students must complete at least one question from each disciplinary area of the STEM topics during the proposed project. Since the project learning offered by the teacher must specific at least one discipline that each question is firmly grounded within.
This IDU is project based learning and interdisciplinary learning at its best.

This product is the culmination of a huge amount of work and is my ultimate work in attempting to link MYP and STEM education at a clear and teacher friendly level. This document links MYP STEM by concept and criteria and 90 STEM topics which has career related links. It covers MYP Science, Mathematics and Design thinking. Providing over 90 STEM topic primers with practical advice to get you going on your MYP STEM journey. The career related links are a huge plus, so when students ask why they might be interested in learning this STEM topic, you will be able to say well with this learning you could be… an astronaut, a radiotherapist, a builder, an artist or a professional hacker.

This is an IB MYP - Nature of Science - Introductory unit which is perfect for introducing young students to the nature of science in society and the scientific process as a whole. This would be ideal as an introductory unit to MYP science.
It an overview for a unit that should run for approximately 17 lessons (assuming 2 lessons a week).
If instead you are looking for an MYP unit planner which is for young students and integrates both mathematics and STEM, then you might consider: MYP Artifical limb unit.
For older MYP students, then I would suggest The NGSS related - Zero impact (sustainable housing) or for an Interdisciplinary unit - the Electricity / lightning MYP STEM IDU.

Usage:
The layout of these video companions are that there are both teacher and student versions of all of these documents. The teacher versions contain the solutions and the administrative information.
