The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.
This full lesson PowerPoint (including worksheet) will allow you to teach a broad range of abilities about the seven life processes and how they are evident in a range of organisms.
The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.
Worksheet to go with my lesson on Ionic Compounds - Naming and Formulae.
The worksheet provides practice at using ionic charges to determine the formula of a given compound, including use of brackets for polyatomic ions. Answers are included.
This worksheet can be used in a lesson to first teach students about the parts and flames of a Bunsen burner, then to test their ability to safely light and use one.
There is a full lesson PowerPoint that can be used with this sheet; it is available to buy from my shop - OnSpecScience.
This PowerPoint will allow you to deliver the GCSE 9-1 Chemistry Core Practical in which calcium hydroxide is used to gradually neutralise hydrochloric acid. It includes background info on indigestion and antacids (for context), an easy-to-follow method to share with students, plus additional tasks aimed at building skills with acid reactions and balanced equations.
The resources are easy to follow for teachers, readily accessible for students and are appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and High-tier.
Other GCSE lessons (including other lessons on Acids and Alkalis) are available from my shop. They can be purchased individually or, alongside this lesson, as part of a whole-topic bundle.
These PowerPoints will allow you to teach students the GCSE 9-1 Chemistry required content on Solubility and Precipitates. Two full lesson PowerPoints are provided:
Solubility and Precipitates
Covers the solubility rules and what happens during precipitation reactions plus some Higher-tier only content on ionic equations.
Making a precipitate
In this lesson students are able to learn the method to make their own pure, dried precipitate.
The resources are easy to follow for teachers, readily accessible for students and are appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes.
Other GCSE lessons are available from my shop. They can be purchased individually or, alongside this lesson, as part of a whole-topic bundle.
This full lesson PowerPoint (with suggested practical tasks) will allow you to teach a broad range of abilities about the differences between series and parallel circuits.
The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.
This full Lesson PowerPoint will allow you to teach students the GCSE 9-1 specification Chemistry content on breaking down hydrocarbons (cracking) and comparing hydrogen versus petrol as fuels for vehicles. The resource is accessible for students, easy for teachers to follow and is appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers.
Note: this lesson covers the Edexcel Paper 2 specification point on hydrogen fuel cells which is relevant to both Combined Science and Triple Science students: “Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of using hydrogen, rather than petrol, as a fuel in cars”
For full coverage of the Triple-only Paper 1 content, evaluating hydrogen fuel cells alongside chemical cells, see my separate lesson “SC16a Chemical Cells and Fuel Cells”.
An ideal home learning resource; these revision cards cover all the “learnable” Chemistry Paper 1 content.
The cards come as an editable PowerPoint, with six cards per slide for students to cut out. There are eight slides (48 cards) for Combined students and ten slides (58 cards) for Triple students. The cards that are Higher only are indicated, so Foundation students can discard these.
As students memorise the content of each card, they should be able to recall the information when prompted by a revision partner. As information becomes embedded, cards can be removed so the pile focuses on a smaller number of trickier concepts.
Please note: these cards are designed to supplement NOT substitute for other revision. If all the material on these cards is memorised, it will give students a solid platform from which to achieve a very good grade. However, these cards are not sufficient to fully prepare students for the chemical calculations topics (only practice can prepare for this) or the technical aspects of the Core Practicals (practical experience is needed for this)
