I have a wealth of resources that are aimed primarily at KS4 and KS5; however, there are some useful KS3 tasks that have been uploaded this year. Topics at KS5 include: Russia and its Rulers, 1855-1941; Later Tudors, 1547-1603; Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th Centuries; Italian Unification, 1830-1870; and Germany, 1890-1990. As well as History, I also have a few resources relating to Geography and ICT that some users may find helpful.

Word Processing Task

Word Processing Task

(0)
A word processing task to introduce students to basic formatting techniques and to encourage accuracy (something that is required in all national assessments). Students have to write out a block of text before formatting it using a set of instructions. More able students will be able to follow the instructions to create an automatic file name and to edit the content in the header/footer. This can be edited for KS2; however, it is primarily suited to Year 8 and Year 9. Instructions have been included for each step so that less able students can be prompted on how to complete the task.

iGCSE CIE ICT Unit 5 Assessment - ICT and Employment

(0)
A short 20-mark assessment for the CIE iGCSE ICT specification. All questions focus on Unit 5, ICT and Employment and have been included on past CIE papers (to which the questions are credited). This would be a perfect resource for an end of unit assessment to test students' knowledge; it could also be used for revision in the lead up to the exam. Mark schemes for the questions can be found on the CIE website; however, all of the questions are straight forward enough to be marked by a knowledgeable teacher.

They can use the notes section to write tips to themselves or can draw the relevant buttons that need to be clicked on to complete each task.

Restoration England: Mistresses of Charles II

(0)
This resource is relevant to the new AQA GCSE specification on Restoration England, 1660-1685; however, it could be adapted for KS3 or A Level. This worksheet would be ideal as an early homework task to encourage students' research skills. Pupils are presented with 3 of Charles's mistresses and must put together a summary of their titles, influence, characteristics etc. More able students may even be able to put the affair into context, explaining why it was so significant or shocking. (All images have been taken from WikiCommons, which is open access)

Restoration England: Glossary Quizzes

(0)
This resource is relevant to the new AQA GCSE specification on Restoration England, 1660-1685; however, it could be adapted for KS3 or A Level. Using the glossary from the text book (and wider understanding) students will need to identify the definitions of 10 key words at a time. These quizzes would be great as a lesson started every 3-4 weeks as new terms are introduced. A larger test could then be put together towards the end of the unit to ensure that students are familiar. I would encourage students to go away and find the definitions for themselves using the text book/internet, as this would make a great homework activity.
Restoration England: Parliamentary Relations

Restoration England: Parliamentary Relations

(0)
A graph plotting activity based on the '7 steps' of parliamentary relations during the reign of Charles II. Students need to read the Hodder text book and assess each phase; they then need to plot on the graph whether they think the relationship between Charles and Parliament was positive or negative. This resource is relevant to the new AQA GCSE specification on Restoration England, 1660-1685. It is intended to be purchased as part of a wider bundle.

Restoration England: Court Fashions

(0)
This resource is relevant to the new AQA GCSE specification on Restoration England, 1660-1685; however, it could be adapted for KS3 or A Level. A label exercise with questions on the changing court fashions during Charles II's reign. Students are presented with two images (taken from WikiCommons, open access) and have to label the images using the correct terminology. Students will then need to explain the transition of court fashions across Charles' reign and identify the reasons for this change.

Restoration England: What was the impact of the plague?

(0)
This resource is relevant to the new AQA GCSE specification on Restoration England, 1660-1685; however, it could be adapted for KS3 or A Level. Using a map of the spread of the plague (WikiCommons), students will need to explain its impact. Teachers are encouraged to supply students with further information on the various boroughs of London (e.g. the worst hit locations were also the locations where the lower classes lived, and vice versa). Students should be making the link between housing/wealth and infection. This would be a useful resource as part of a much wider topic on the plague, including its causes and treatment.

Industrial Revolution: Living Conditions Wordsearch

(0)
This is a gap fill and wordsearch for pupils studying the Industrial Revolution. This is a great homework or extension activity, or just for a bit of fun! Students will need to work out what the missing words are in the paragraph and then find these in the grid - can they spot which word is missing from the word search? (**ANSWER: Water Supply***) I have included answers on a separate sheet.

Unification of Italy, 1830-1870: A Changing Italy Card Sort

(0)
An activity created in support of the Edexcel AS Level unit: The Unification of Italy, 1830-1870. This activity includes 3 sets of 8 cards, each in relation to one of the 8 stages of Italy's transformation into a unified state (between 1792 and 1870). Each page contains either: 8 maps, 8 events or 8 dates. Students are required to match up the dates, events and maps before putting the matched-up sets in chronological order. This would be a useful started during a revision lesson towards the end of the course, or the maps/dates cards could be used at the very beginning of the course to get students speculating what may happen.

AQA History GCSE Britain: Health and the People: Women in Medicine Table Task

(0)
Two worksheets as part of a lesson on Elizabeth Garrett Anderson and Sophia Jex Blake. This forms the part of the 'Revolution in Medicine' section of the AQA Health and the People unit of work. Students need to use the Hodder Textbook (pages indicated on the worksheets) to match the dates with the events; they then need to find similarities/differences between the stories of both women.
War on Land: D-Day

War on Land: D-Day

(0)
A useful lesson starter and class task on the D Day landings. Students are given a selection of images and they must first try to work out what is going on in each (all images from WikiCommons). Then, after a class discussion, they need to try to put them in the correct order. Once finished, they can try to match them up and rearrange the events on the PowerPoint presentation, before sticking/writing into their books. A map of the D Day landings has also been included, to be used alongside the questions from the PowerPoint. This is a useful introduction to D Day and can be used as a springboard for further tasks.
The War in the Air Activities

The War in the Air Activities

(0)
A number of worksheets focusing on the war in the air and the Battle of Britain. The PowerPoint can be used as a starter activity: students are given a poster showing British and German planes (in pairs); they must hold up coloured pages (from planners) to decide whether the plane on the board is British or German. There are then a number of questions based on the Battle of Britain map that has been included, along with a source analysis of the War in the Air.

This is an essential resource for any student studying the new AQA GCSE History topic 'Britain: Health and the People'. The questions are divided up based on the 4 chronological sections of the course; there are questions of all types, including thematic questions. (***THESE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS DEFINITE EXAMPLES OF EXAM QUESTIONS***)
Cuban Missile Crisis

Cuban Missile Crisis

(0)
An introductory presentation and some accompanying images/maps to be used as part of a lesson on the Cuban Missile Crisis. These worksheets/presentations can be adapted to suit a much broader lesson on the Cold War, or can be used as a stand-alone lesson. There is a useful BBC documentary that can be found on YouTube that works well once students have been introduced to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Included is a PowerPoint presentation that talks through the story, along with a map of Cuba and the areas of tension.

AQA GCSE History - Britain: Health and the People - Antiseptics Worksheets

(0)
These resources relate to the AQA GCSE History unit, Britain: Health and the People. Most tasks require the blue textbook from Hodder. Included is a gap fill worksheet on antiseptics and aseptics, a card sort activity on opposition to carbolic acid, and a utility question (question 1) on carbolic acid. These resources are intended to be used as part of a much broader lesson on antiseptics and aseptics. Also included are some class notes on anaesthetics that may be useful.
AQA Russia, 1894-1945: Lenin takes power

AQA Russia, 1894-1945: Lenin takes power

(0)
Resources relating to the AQA 9-1 GCSE Option ‘Russia, 1894-1945’. Included is 2-3 lessons’ worth of activities tackling the immediate problems facing Lenin in 1917 and his decrees (Civil War not included - see separate resource for this!) The PowerPoint includes teaching information, copies of the worksheets, sources and videos (where relevant). There are also practice exam questions included in the slide (usually 1-2 per topic). This is part of a larger bundle covering the entire unit, which can be purchased from my shop. This resource was originally designed for OneNote teaching; however, it can easily be adapted to exercise book teaching in under 5mins. Simply change the phrase ‘in OneNote’ to ‘in your exercise books’ on the PowerPoint. The ‘Understanding the Modern World’ course textbook from Hodder is needed to access some of the activities (however, alternatives can no doubt be found).
