Of course it can be modified to fit with the scheme of work. **Powerpoint that will cover a series of lessons to help you teach homeostasis and the kidney. ** Specification points covered: WJEC - 7a -i Eduqas - 4 a- i Included: Begins with homestasis and a graph drawing exercise to identify positive and negative feedback. Moves on to kidney structure identifying labels on diagrams but also micrographs. Structure of the nephron and past paper exam questions In detail it covers with diagrams, animated slides: ultrafiltration, selective reabsorption, water reabsorption and the countercurrent multiplier mechanism, osmoregulation with ADH and aquaporins. Deamination and the excretion of different types of waste products. Some dialysis. Please note that some knowledge of the topic will be needed to teach - this is an aid to help cover all of the points. Past paper questions are included throughout. Learners should be able to recognise the listed organelles on a diagram or electron micrograph of eukaryotic cells, and draw them onto a generalised diagram of a cell, understanding their relative size. Learners should understand that organelles work together to carry out functions within cells, e.g. in the synthesis and transport of biological molecules such as glycoproteins. It could however be adapted for use by other major exam boards.
