Looking for some decent, engaging science resources? Look no further! I studied in Nottingham for my undergraduate degree in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry, and then completed my Master's in the same field. I completed my teacher training at the same university, and now I currently teach 11-18 year olds at a school in Richmond-upon-Thames. I am currently the Head of Chemistry at a school in SW London. Climate Change - Full Lesson

(1)
This lesson is built around the themes in the novel: “Swimming Against the Storm”, however doesn’t need to be taught alongside it. It is designed to last a double lesson, and features many videos and conversation points to engage students in this climate debate. It is geared towards our local area of Richmond towards the end, but this can be changed. We are starting a BIG READ project in my academy trust, and so this will be the first lesson we do in science (and other faculties first lessons in Y7 will also be related to this book)

KS3 C2.1.1 Metals and Non metals

(0)
This lesson goes through the differences of metals and non-metals, by way of a practical circus. The equipment needed is listed on the first slide, with sheets explaining each station within the powerpoint (and printable tables for students to complete). This lesson also begins to highlight the arrangement of the periodic table.

AQA Required Practical: Titration

(0)
One of the required practicals to complete for the new AQA GCSE. Students complete a practical where they find out the concentration of an 'unknown' acid solution. This pack comes with a set of instructions, explanation on the calculations and a set of questions for them to complete on the second sheet.

AQA The Earth's Atmosphere

(0)
This lesson covers the the Earth's atmosphere and early atmosphere, and consists of students completing two worksheets. Two copies of each sheet are provided in case you wish to print them at A5. A4 is recommended. This lesson is recommended to take at least 1hr 30 mins. Lesson ends with students answering an exam question. N.B: This sale is not for the exam question as this is copyrighted material, this question is provided for mere convenience.

AQA Chapter 4 - Writing Formula of Salts

(0)
This lesson is a one-off lesson to accompany Chapter 4 of the NEW AQA chemistry course, but could be used by anyone teaching how to work out and write salt formula. It goes through the ionisation of atoms, and how it is related to an atom's position in the periodic table (well the electrons in the outer shell). Keywords: Ionic Salt Acid Equation Symbol Ion Learning Objectives: Write equations for reactions of acids with metal hydroxides, oxides and carbonates Be able to name salts formed Write balanced symbol equations of salt formation

AQA C2.5.2 Making salts from metals or bases

(0)
This is a lesson based on the old chemistry AQA GCSE, however it is still relevant to the new GCSE, and some aspects of the KS3 curriculum. This is a practical based lesson, where students are able to make copper sulfate crystals. The lesson length at my school is 45 minutes, so the step for acquiring the crystals from solution was skipped, but if you have a longer lesson you can easily add it in. Content covered, or re-capped: - Balancing equations - Making salts from metals and bases - Endothermic/Exothermic Reactions Contains numeracy (e.g. balancing equations) and literacy (e.g. key words anagrams) tasks too!

Lesson Objectives State the role of bees in plant reproduction (pollination). Describe the changes in bee populations over time and give a few reasons why numbers are declining. Explain how pollination takes place and be able to say what is being done to restore bee populations in the local environment. Keywords Bee Reproduction Pollination CCD
