They cut out the puzzle and put them together to make the CVC word. The picture on the puzzle piece completes the puzzle. <strong>• CVC Large Puzzles (Green) with colour clipart</strong> It is best to print onto card/good quality paper and laminate and then cut out. A total of 73 CVC words which you can print and laminate whenever you need a set of words. Ideal for early finishers and small group work. This resource contains three PowerPoint Presentations on mixed phonics CVC words. Teacher’s Guide included. Phonics Input Sessions: Segment and blend CVC words orally and in writing. These presentations can cover numerous phonic sessions. Play in Slide Show Each presentation contains 80 slides and has three different functions - see below The presentations are set up so that you have to click on the arrows, home, end slide function buttons. To reveal the letters in each word, you have to click on the purple squares. Click on any slide you want to use by going back and forth on the arrows. You can end the Slide Show at any time, click on END SLIDE SHOW>. In Slide Show you can use the forward/backward arrows to select the slides you want to use in your phonics lesson. This is so convenient as you can choose the words you want to focus on. Children will see a picture for each word. Suggested Activities What’s the missing phoneme? The CVC words are covered up ready to be revealed when you click on a square. You can differentiate the lesson by revealing two letters at a time and asking children to say and/or write what they think the missing phoneme is. • Click on the squares to reveal the letters you want in the lesson. • The children use the pictures as a visual aid to help them say or write the missing phoneme. What are the missing phoneme? • You can make the lesson more challenging by only revealing one phoneme and the children write or say the two missing phonemes. What’s the picture – Segment and blend CVC words You can assess how well the children segment and blend the CVC words. Select any slide in Slide Show. Ask the children what the picture is. You can prompt them if they are not sure. Get them to say the letters by sounding out and blending. Ask them to write the word on their whiteboards and then show you. You can reveal the answers by clicking on the squares. Alternatively, tell you the children you are going to show them slides of pictures and they have, e.g. a few seconds, to write the letter that corresponds to each phoneme on their whiteboards and then show you on their mini- whiteboards. This resource contains a set of 26 lower case letters with 2D shapes. Alphabet playdough mats for each letter with a picture beginning with the letter sound. If you are teaching or have taught letters and 2D shapes, here are some extra resources for your pupils to colour in and/or cut out and stick into their workbooks or on a separate sheet of paper. The letters are on whole pages in two sizes - A4 and 8.5 x 11". Suggested Uses: Children colour in the shapes and the background and then they can draw things beginning with that letter. Children colour in the shapes only and then cut around the letter and stick into their workbook. You could cut out the letter and stick into their workbooks or on a separate sheet of paper with handwriting guidelines for children to practise writing the letter and then colour in. Each word search shows an arrow pointing in the direction of the CVC word. Children look at the picture and say what it is. They then unscramble the word in the centre and write it out correctly using phonemes previously taught. A natural progression from CVC and CCV to CCVC Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Principles and Practice. Aimed at: Early Years and keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. You can decide to put in 15 mins phonics, 30 mins or longer as this is an easy- to- follow flexible resource as are the others. This last pack relating to initial consonant blends CCVC words contains: Flexible Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan for whole group activities. PowerPoint Presentation 1 (29 Slides)- includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words; making words, sorting jumbled words and also includes alien and real word whole class activity. PowerPoint Phoneme Presentation (9 Slides) - Optional (Use as reference) - some children may still be struggling with segmenting/blending). I have listed CCVC words and the units of sound above the fingers so that children can see and hear the separate phonemes (with pictures). Children can verbalize simple sentences with a selection of tw-ccvc words. Tw - CCVC Flashcards and words with and without sound buttons and lines - you can use during lesson and plenary for children to quick read. Set of pictures and words for matching activities (8) 2 Worksheets: Worksheet 1 - Making Tw- CCVC Words from a table - Children list as many words as they can and then choose 3 words and write a sentence for each word. Worksheet 2 - Differentiated - Same as above, except children draw a picture for each word listed in the table and then label the pictures. 2 Word Searches with pictures. This resource relates to matching a mixture of CVC words to pictures. Learning aims: To read and match CVC words to pictures by segmenting and blending. There are two parts to this resource: 1. Play as a game to practise blending and segmenting; 2. For the teacher to assess children's progress in reading CVC words. This product contains: - Teachers' Notes on suggested activities - 8 phonic CVC Phonic Boards 1 to 8 containing clipart pictures - 72 word cards - 24 alien words/pseudo-words - 8 Phonic CVC Screening Check Sheets The boards are colour-coded with the word cards. On each board there are 9 cvc pictures and 3 alien pictures. There are 9 real word cards and 3 alien/pseudo-words for each picture board. Learn to read consonant, vowel, consonant(cvc) words via games - children choose any board number (Board 1 to Board 8) which are colour-coded with the word cards, e.g. Board 1 (yellow) with yellow word cards. H/she chooses a board and read the word on the card and cover the picture that matches the word. The alien pictures can be covered with any of the pseudo-word cards. Children can play in twos/threes - choose the colour of their boards and word cards. Shuffle the set of word cards and lay them face down on the table. They take turns turning over a card. If a card matches their board colour, s/he reads the word and covers the picture for that word. If the colour does not match or s/he cannot read the word, the word card is put back face down on the table. Using the word cards only - shuffle a selection of cards and the child reads as many words as s/he can. Additional use to check progress: For the teacher/assistant - Optional 8 Phonics screening check sheets - On each sheet there is a list of words that correspond to the set of word cards.
